Abstract
Popularitas Iguana iguana sebagai hewan peliharaan telah meningkat pesat dalam beberapa tahun terakhir. Manajemen perkandangan perlu diperhatikan untuk menghindari terjadinya berbagai penyakit yang disebabkan oleh parasit. Oxyuris spp. merupakan spesies nematoda yang paling sering ditemukan dalam sistem pencernaan Iguana iguana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi morfologi telur Oxyuris spp. dan mengetahui pengaruh berbagai tipe kandang pemeliharaan terhadap tingkat infeksi Oxyuris spp. pada Iguana iguana di Malang Raya. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah cross sectional studies dan menggunakan non random purposive sampling sebagai metode pengambilan sampel. Sampel feses yang masih segar dimasukkan ke dalam plastik zip lalu ditambahkan formalin 10% dan diberi kertas label. Pengamatan morfologi telur Oxyuris spp. dilakukan dengan metode natif dan apung, sedangkan analisis tingkat infeksi menggunakan metode McMaster. Pengamatan feses dilakukan menggunakan Mikroskop Olympus CX 21® dengan bantuan Optilab Advanced Plus Camera® dan aplikasi ImageJ® untuk mengukur morfometri telur Oxyuris spp.. Hasil pemeriksaan 40 sampel feses memperlihatkan seluruh sampel positif terinfeksi Oxyuris spp.. Iguana iguana pada kandang besi dan terrarium terinfeksi dengan derajat sedang (33 ekor), sedangkan pada kandang umbar terinfeksi dengan derajat tinggi (7 ekor). Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan aplikasi Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) dengan uji Chi-square yang diteruskan dengan uji alternatif Likelihood-Ratio. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan terdapat hubungan (P<0,05) antara tipe kandang pemeliharaan dengan tingkat infeksi Oxyuris spp. pada Iguana iguana di Malang Raya. Diperlukan studi lebih lanjut untuk mengetahui infeksi Oxyuris spp. pada spesies pet reptil lain dan meningkatkan edukasi kepada para owner reptil terkait manajemen pemeliharaan yang lebih baik
English Abstract
The popularity of green iguanas as pets has quickly increased in recent years. The housing management needs to be considered to prevent the occurrence of various diseases caused by parasites. Oxyuris spp. is the most common nematode species found in green igaunas’s digestive system. This study aims to identify the Oxyuris spp.’s egg morphology and to determine the effect of various cages on the infection rate of Oxyuris spp. on green iguanas in Malang. The research design used in this study is a cross-sectional study and non-random purposive sampling as the sample collection method. Fresh feces placed in a plastic zip, then add a 10% formalin solution and labeling the sample. The morphology identification of Oxyuris spp. was observed using native and flotation methods, while the analysis of the infection rate was using the McMaster method. The observations were using an Olympus CX 21® microscope helped with Optilab Advanced Plus Camera® and ImageJ® application to measure Oxyuris spp. egg morphometry. The examination result of 40 samples showed all samples were positively infected with Oxyuris spp. Green iguanas in terrarium and iron cages were moderately infected (33), while those in loose cages were highly infected (7). Data analysis performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) application with a Chi-square test followed by Likelihood-Ratio alternative test. The results showed that there was a relation (P<0,05) between type of cages rearing cages and the infection rate of Oxyuris spp. on green iguanas in Malang. Further studies needed to determine the infection of Oxyuris spp. on other pet reptiles species and increase the aducation for reptile owners regarding better rearing management.
