Abstract
Iguana iguana merupakan hewan eksotik yang banyak dipelihara oleh komunitas dan kalangan masyarakat pecinta reptil di Malang Raya. Keterbatasan pengetahuan terkait manajemen pemeliharaan dapat menimbulkan berbagai masalah kesehatan, salah satunya infeksi parasit pada saluran pencernaan Iguana iguana. Infeksi helminth pada saluran pencernaan yang dapat menginfeksi Iguana iguana antara lain cacing golongan Cestoda, Nematoda dan Trematoda. Kasus infeksi helminth saluran pencernaan yang ditemukan pada Iguana iguana di Malang Raya adalah nematoda Oxyuris spp. Infeksi helminth saluran pencernaan pada Iguana iguana dapat menimbulkan gejala klinis seperti obstruksi usus besar, anoreksia serta emasiasi. Infeksi Oxyuris spp. pada Iguana iguana dapat diobati dengan antihelmintik fenbendazole yang dapat membunuh seluruh stadium cacing hingga telur cacing (ovisidal). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk megetahui efektivitas pemberian fenbendazole pada Iguana iguana yang terinfeksi Oxyuris spp. di Malang Raya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan sampel feses 33 ekor Iguana iguana yang terinfeksi Oxyuris spp. di Malang Raya. Sampel feses yang sudah terkumpul diperiksa secara mikroskopis dengan metode natif, apung dan McMaster. Iguana iguana yang terinfeksi Oxyuris spp. diobati dengan antihelmintik fenbendazole secara peroral dengan dosis 25 mg/kg BB q24h selama 5 hari. Efektivitas pemberian fenbendazole dianalisis dengan Fecal Egg Count Reduction Test (FECRT). FECRT dihitung pada hari ke 7, 14, 21 dan 31 pasca pemberian febendazole. Hasil rata-rata FECRT diperoleh pada hari ke-7 10,72%, hari ke-14 90,6%, hari ke-21 97% dan hari ke-31 mencapai 100% menunjukan antihelmintik fenbendazole sangat efektif terhadap infeksi Oxyuris spp. pada Iguana iguana.
English Abstract
Iguana iguana is an exotic animal that is kept by many communities and reptile lovers in Malang Raya. Limited knowledge related to maintenance management can cause various health problems, one of which is parasitic infection in the Iguana iguana digestive tract. Helminth infections in the digestive tract that can infect Iguana iguana include worms from the Cestoda, Nematoda and Trematoda classes. Helminth infections of the digestive tract found in iguanas in Malang Raya were nematodes Oxyuris spp. Helminth infections of the digestive tract in Iguana iguana can cause clinical symptoms such as large intestinal obstruction, anorexia and emaciation. Oxyuris spp. infection. in Iguanas iguana can be treated with fenbendazole antihelmintics which can kill all stages of worms to worm eggs (ovicidal). This study aims to determine the effectiveness of administering fenbendazole to Iguana iguana infected with Oxyuris spp. in Malang Raya. This research was conducted by collecting faecal samples from 33 Iguana iguana infected with Oxyuris spp. in Malang Raya. The collected faecal samples were examined microscopically using native, floating and McMaster methods. Iguana iguana infected with Oxyuris spp. treated with the antihelmintic fenbendazole orally at a dose of 25 mg/kg BW q24h for 5 days. The effectiveness of fenbendazole administration was analyzed by the Fecal Egg Count Reduction Test (FECRT). FECRT was calculated on days 7, 14, 21 and 31 after administration of febendazole. The average FECRT results obtained on the 7th day were 10.72%, the 14th day 90.6%, the 21st day 97% and the 31st day it reached 100% showing that the fenbendazole antihelmintic was very effective against Oxyuris spp. infection. on Iguana iguana.
