Abstract
Leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius) merupakan kelompok reptil yang memiliki karakter jinak untuk dijadikan hewan peliharaan. Infeksi penyakit menjadi salah satu masalah dalam pemeliharaan Leopard gecko apabila manajemen perawatan dilakukan secara tidak tepat. Penyakit yang paling sering menginfeksi Leopard gecko juvenile dan adult adalah infeksi endoparasit nematoda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi endoparasit nematoda dan mengetahui pengaruh usia terhadap tingkat infeksi endoparasit nematoda pada Leopard gecko di Malang Raya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah cross sectional study dengan pengumpulan sampel feses yang digunakan adalah non random-purposive sampling. Sebanyak 40 sampel feses Leopard gecko dari umur 2 bulan hingga 4 tahun dikumpulkan dari 4 lokasi di Malang Raya. Pemeriksaan feses secara kualitatif menggunakan metode natif dan metode apung, pemeriksaan secara kuantitatif menggunakan metode McMaster yang digunakan untuk menghitung jumlah telur per gram feses (EPG). Sampel feses yang telah dibuat preparat diamati dengan Mikroskop Olympus CX 21® dengan perbesaran 40x-100x. Hasil data pengukuran morfometri telur cacing dilakukan dengan menggunakan Optilab Advanced Plus Camera® dan aplikasi ImageJ®. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan aplikasi Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS®) 25.0 dengan menggunakan Uji Likelihood-ratio. Hasil identifikasi sampel feses Leopard gecko menunjukkan adanya endoparasit nematoda dari spesies Oxyuris sp. dan Pharyngodon sp. Terdapat pengaruh usia (juvenile dan adult) terhadap tingkat infeksi endoparasit nematoda pada Leopard gecko di Malang Raya dengan didapatkan nilai p-value <0,05. Infeksi Oxyuris sp. dan Pharyngodon sp. lebih tinggi pada Leopard gecko adult. Penelitian lebih lanjut dibutuhkan untuk mengetahui faktor lain yang dapat mempengaruhi tingkat infeksi endoparasit nematoda pada Leopard gecko
English Abstract
Leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius) is a group of reptiles that have a tame character to be kept as pets. Disease infection becomes one of the problems in maintaining Leopard gecko if maintenance management is carried out inappropriately. The most common disease that infects juvenile and adult leopard geckos is nematode endoparasite infection. This study aims to identify nematode endoparasites and determine the effect of age on the infection rate of nematode endoparasites in leopard geckos in Malang Raya. The research method used was a cross-sectional study with non-random-purposive sampling used to collect faecal samples. A total of 40 faecal samples of Leopard geckos from 2 months to 4 years old were collected from 4 locations in Malang Raya. Qualitative examination of feces using the native method and the floating method, quantitative examination using the McMaster method which is used to calculate the number of eggs per gram of feces (EPG). The prepared stool samples were observed with an Olympus CX 21® Microscope with a magnification of 40x-100x. The results of worm egg morphometric measurement data were carried out using the Optilab Advanced Plus Camera® and the ImageJ® application. Data analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS®) 25.0 application using the Likelihood-ratio test. The identification results of the faecal samples of the Leopard gecko showed the presence of nematode endoparasites from the species Oxyuris sp. and Pharyngodon sp. There is an effect of age (juvenile and adult) on the level of nematode endoparasite infection in Leopard geckos in Malang Raya with a p-value <0.05. Oxyuris sp. infection and Pharyngodon sp. higher in Leopard gecko adults. Further research is needed to determine other factors that can affect the rate of nematode endoparasite infection in Leopard geckos.
