Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
The synthetic pesticides that are widely used in Indonesia come from the organophosphate group. The use of organophosphates will leave residues on agricultural products which if consumed in the long term can cause health problems. The feed and drink given to dairy cows come from agricultural areas that still use organophosphates as pesticides. This will certainly have a negative impact on dairy cows, especially during the lactation period. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of the prolactin hormone and phosphorus in the blood of lactating dairy cows contaminated with organophosphate residues through feed and drinking water. This study used 14 blood samples from lactating dairy cows which had been prepared to become serum. Then, the serum sample was subjected to an indirect ELISA test to determine levels of the prolactin hormone and a blood chemistry test to determine phosphorus levels. The data obtained is in the form of quantitative data which is then analyzed using the independent T-test method. The results showed that there was no significant difference (P > 0.05) in the levels of prolactin (P = 0.300) and phosphorus (P = 0.541) from the blood samples oflPFH dairy cattle at Kawi and Pujon farms. Thus, low level of organophosphate in Kawi and Pujon farms does not affect prolactin and phosphorus levels. The average yield of prolactin levels was still within the normal range, namely 8.98 ng/ml on Kawi farms and 9.53 ng/ml on Pujon farms. The average yield of phosphorus levels was also within the normal range, namely 6 mg/dl at Kawi farms and 6.357 mg/dl at Pujon farms
