Abstract
English Abstract
Spirulina sp. become one type of microalgae that has the potential as a source of food and biofuels. In addition to the high protein content, spirulina sp. has several advantages compared to other types of microalgae, namely relatively fast production and the resulting biomass is easy to harvest. The growth of microalgae in culture can be characterized by an increase in the number of cells. This growth can be seen from the increasing level of cell density in culture. In the study of the effect of adding carbonate and bicarbonate concentrations on the growth rate of Spirulina sp. aims to determine the effect of changes in bicarbonate concentration on the growth rate of Spirulina sp. and determine the effect of changes in carbonate concentration on the growth rate of Spirulina sp. The research begins with the cultivation of Spirulina sp. without the addition of sodium carbonate and bicarbonate. Then each variable is checked for temperature and check for pH. After that, the aerator was installed and stored under LED lights for 10 days. Optical Density measurements are carried out every 1x24 hours. The growth rate of Spirulina sp. with variations in the addition of bicarbonate and carbonate in each treatment showed differences. Treatment A showed the highest growth rate, namely 0.26994/day, followed by treatment C, 0.19898/day, and treatment B, 0.24232/day, while the control treatment (K) showed the lowest growth rate, namely 0.12158/day.
