Abstract

Kritik Sosial merupakan salah satu bentuk komunikasi yang berfungsi sebagai kontrol terhadap jalannya suatu sistem sosial. Kritik sosial dapat dilihat dalam berbagai bentuk, salah satunya adalah karya seni. Di era ini, ada seorang pelukis dari Polandia, Pawel Kuczynski, yang selalu konsisten dan produktif dalam menghasilkan karya seni. Tarikan garis dan warna-warna kalem yang digunakan Kuczynski membuat karya-karyanya terlihat lembut, padahal sebenarnya menyiratkan permasalahan dunia saat ini yang cukup serius. Salah satunya adalah perkembangan teknologi yang tidak dapat terelakkan, hingga sudah menjadi kebutuhan pokok yang harus dimiliki oleh masyarakat saat ini. Lantas, dalam kedekatan yang seperti itu apakah manusia memiliki kontrol terhadap teknologi? Penelitian ini menggunakan metode semiotika yang bersifat kualitatif deskriptif. Analisis ini menggunakan model petofi yang dikembangkan oleh Umberto Eco, yang meliputi tataran aspek intensional dan aspek ekstensional. Penggambaran realitas sosial akibat perkembangan teknologi dalam lukisan karya Pawel Kuczynski untuk menyampaikan kritik sosial menjadi fokus penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembuat teks yakni Pawel Kuczynski, mengintegrasikan elemen-elemen visual yang ditunjukkan secara eksplisit seperti warna, bentuk, komposisi pada lukisan sangat penting untuk membangun mood agar masyarakat dapat menangkap makna dari lukisan yang dibuat dan kemudian terpersuasi. Selain eleman-elemen visual yang telah disebutkan di atas, judul lukisan juga memegang peranan penting untuk menegaskan pada audiens apa yang digambarkan pada lukisan.

English Abstract

Social Criticism is one form of communication that serves as a control over the course of a social system. Social criticism can be seen in many forms, one of which is artwork. In this era, there was a Polish painter, Pawel Kuczynski, who was always consistent and productive in producing works of art. Pull lines and muted colors are used Kuczynski makes his work look soft, but actually implies problems of the world today are quite serious. One of them is the development of technology that can not be inevitable, until it has become a basic requirement that must be owned by society today. So, in such closeness does man have control over technology? This research uses semiotics method of descriptive qualitative. This analysis uses a petophyte model developed by Umberto Eco, which includes the level of intentional and extensional aspects. The delineation of social reality due to technological developments in Pawel Kuczynski's painting to convey social criticism became the focus of this study. The results of this study indicate that the text maker Pawel Kuczynski, integrating visual elements explicitly indicated as color, shape, composition of the painting is very important to build up the mood for people to grasp the meaning of the paintings made and then terpersuasi. In addition to the visual elements mentioned above, the title of the painting also plays an important role to assert to the audience what is depicted in the painting.
