Abstract

English Abstract

Songga (Strychnos lucida R.Br.) empirically used to cure malaria by taking the extract from the decoction. However, this preparation is unstandardized and led to dosage inaccuracies, so tablets were made to make them easy to consume at the right dosage. This research is aimed to determine the optimum tablet formulation using different excipient filler or adsorbent namely aerosil and avicel. Quality control of each formulation was guided by BPOM Regulation Number 32 of 2019 concerning Safety and Quality Requirements for Indonesian Traditional Medicines and Indonesian Pharmacopoeia. Tablet preparations were tested for variations in weight, size uniformity, hardness, disintegration time, and friability. Tablets that contain aerosil as an adsorbent exhibited uniform weight and size that meet the specifications. The hardness is 4.61 kg/m2, the disintegration time is 20 minutes, and the friability value is 0.05%. We conclude that the formula with aerosil as an adsorbent capable of producing Tablets Extract Songga Wood with characteristics that fulfill traditional medicine’s quality requirements.
