Abstract

English Abstract

The increase in the number of traffic accidents in Indonesia from year to year is high and causes injuries and deaths. Recorded data from the Indonesian National Police in 2015 with the number of traffic accidents of 96,233 until 2019 there was an increase in the number of traffic accidents to 116,411 with 25,671 fatalities. This problem raises a solution by adding a security system to the vehicle so as to improve driver safety and reduce the impact of an accident by having a crash box. The research method in this study is a finite element-based quasi-research method. This method is used to find out by computer simulation the design optimization of nine- cell square foam filled crash boxes using a response surface methodology
