Abstract

Metil oleat merupakan salah satu senyawa penyusun fame dengan rantai karbon 18 hasil dari transeterifikasi. Metil oleat boiling point dan viskositas yang tinggi sehingga diperlukan tambahan etanol untuk menurunkan boiling point dan viskositas agar meningkatkan pembakaran pada droplet. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan etanol terhadap flame spread dan karakteristik pembakaran droplet metil oleat. Penelitian menggunakan Metode eksperimental, pelaksanaan metode penelitian dilakukan dengan cara menyuntikkan cairan droplet ke masing-masing droplet sejajar. Dekatkan heater kedroplet sampai terbakar lalu tarik heater, data diolah menggunakan software DAQNavi untuk membaca data pada data logger dan kamera untuk merekam video. Dari pencampuran etanol maka didapatkan flame spread velocity dan Avarage burning rate meningkat. Temperatur turun karena heating value etanol rendah. Ignition delat time, persebaran api, evolusi diameter dan tinggi api turun

English Abstract

Methyl oleate is one of the compounds that make up fame with an 18carbon chain as a result of transetherification. Methyl oleate boiling point and high viscosity so that additional ethanol is needed to reduce boiling point and viscosity to increase droplet combustion. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding ethanol to the flame spread and combustion characteristic of methyl oleate droplets. The study used an experimental method, the implementation of the research method was carried out by injecting liquid droplets into each parallel droplet. Bring the heater to the droplet until it burns and then pull the heater. The data is processed using DAQNavi software to read the data on the data logger and the camera to record video. From the mixing of ethanol, the flame spread velocity and Average burning rate increased. The temperature drops because the heating value of ethanol is low. Ignition delay time, flame spread, diameter evolution and flame height decreased
