Abstract
English Abstract
Spotted barb fish (Barbodes binotatus) is a freshwater fishery that has high economic value. The market demand for spotted barb fish (B. binotatus) is quite a lot. However, there is a lack of sufficient and stable supply to meet market demand, so the spawning of spotted barb fish is carried out. Spawning fish is an effort to increase the population of spotted barb fish. Provision of the substrate in spawning can help the success of spawning wader hoe fish. The substrates used include raffia rope, stone, and water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes). Spotted barb fish eggs will stick to the substrate. The purpose of this study was to determine the spawning success rate of the spotted barb (B. binotatus) using different substrates and to determine the fecundity, hatching rate, and survival rate of the spotted barb (B. binotatus) larvae. The method used in this research is the experimental method. There were 4 treatments in the study consisting of raffia rope, rock, water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes), and control. The main parameters observed in this study were fecundity, hatching rate, and survival rate of spotted barb fish (B. binotatus) larvae. Supporting parameters observed in this study were water quality in the spotted barb (B. binotatus) rearing medium, namely temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen. Data analysis was performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results of this study indicate that differences in substrate have a very significant effect on fecundity. The highest fecundity was in treatment B (stone substrate) with an average number of 2495 grains, while the lowest fecundity was in treatment A (raffia rope substrate) with an average number of 1682 grains. Substrate differences have a very significant effect on hatchability. The highest hatching rate was in treatment B (rock substrate) with an average value of 81.98%, while the lowest hatchability was in treatment A (raffia rope substrate) with an average value of 58%. The difference in the substrate has a very significant effect on the survival rate of the larvae. The highest survival rate was in treatment B (stone substrate) with an average value of 81.4%, while the lowest survival rate was in treatment A (raffia rope substrate) with an average value of 44.4%. The quality of the water during the study was considered optimal for the spawning of the spotted barb (B. binotatus). The use of different substrates affects the fecundity, hatchability, and survival rate of the spotted barb (B. binotatus) larvae. The best results were obtained from treatment B compared to treatments A, C, and control.
