Abstract
English Abstract
Brantas plays an essential role in the socioeconomic aspects of reaching clean water demand, both residential and industrial, irrigation, electricity, leisure activity infrastructure, transportation, and other demands. Brantas has faced numerous difficulties since the last time, including floods during the rainy season, drought during the dry season, sediment disturbances, conflicts over human needs, water pollution, and other issues. Many industrial companies operate in the Brantas watershed, adding to the problems in the Brantas River area. The primary aim of this study is to assess the hematological profile of the bader fish to evaluate the quality of the Brantas River in the Blitar region (Barbonymus altus). pH, DO, Ammonia, Heavy Metal Hg, BOD, TSS, and river TDS were the water quality parameters measured. Erythrocytes, leukocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, Hg micronuclei in gills, and metallotionein were the fish hematological parameters measured. From January to March, measurements were taken and data was collected once a week for three weeks. Pollution index (IP), correlation regression, and canonical correlation analysis were used to analyze data (CCA). According to the IP measurements, the three sampling stations are still classified as lightly polluted, with a range of 1.99-4.52. The correlation regression method was used to examine the relationship between heavy metals and the density and intensity of Metallotionein. As a result, the density of the heavy metal Hg in the gills has a strong correlation with R2 = 0.856. However, the correlation between Metallotionein intensity and heavy metal Hg in the gills is weak, with R2 = 0.013. The CCA analysis shows that several parameters have a strong unidirectional correlation, including erythrocytes and pH, leukocytes and temperature, hemoglobin and DO, hemoglobin and TSS, and hematocrit and BOD. Several parameters were revealed to have a strong inverse relationship, including micronuclei and DO, hematocrit and TDS, and phagocytosis and ammonia and DO parameters. The study's conclusion is that the waters of the Brantas river at three stations still be classified as of lightly polluted based on the Pollution Index (IP), and that the bader fish can be used as a biomarker for the quality of the Brantas river water in the Blitar region due to a strong correlation between the parameters of the river's water quality and its hematological parameters.
