Abstract

English Abstract

This research aims to investigate the correlation between epistemic beliefs and online self-regulated English learning (OSEL) in general, also to find out the influence EFL epistemic beliefs to online self-regulated English learning (OSEL) in specific. The study was conducted in SMKN 4 Malang, on the XI grade Multimedia students. The participants of this research were 115 students. This research used quantitative approach and correlational method with two techniques analyzing data. The data were obtained from the questionnaire. Pearson correlation and multiple regression were used to analyze the result of the questionnaire. According to the result it showed that there is a correlation between EFL epistemic beliefs and online self-regulated English learning (OSEL) in general. In specific, omniscient authority dimension has the most dominant influence on online self-regulated English learning. The higher correlation value of omniscient authority with online self- regulated learning means that students believe if learning can be done individually. It means the more autonomous students in learning because students have belief that the teacher is not the only one who plays the most important role in learning English. Thus, the use of a communicative approach in learning English should be carried out by teachers in online English learning classes.
