Abstract
Halitosis merupakan salah satu masalah mulut yang banyak diderita oleh masyarakat Indonesia selain karies gigi dan radang gusi. sebagian besar orang yang mengalami halitosis merupakan halitosis intraoral yaitu bau mulut yang tidak segar yang disebabkan oleh aktivitas bakteri. Daun kemangi (Ocimum sanctum) memiliki aktivitas antibakteri, antioksidan, dan antijamur yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai agen antibakteri alami Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh daun kemangi (Ocimum sanctum) terhadap bakteri penyebab halitosis.Metode: Tinjauan literatur dengan pencarian melalui beberapa database elektronik berdasarkan kata kunci yang telah ditetapkan, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan menyeleksi literatur dengan metode PRISMA. Hasil Penelitian: Berdasarkan studi literatur yang telah dilakukan dari 8 jurnal di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa daun kemangi (Ocimum sanctum) dapat dijadikan temuan inovatif terhadap halitosis.
English Abstract
Halitosis is one of the most common oral problems suffered by Indonesian people besides dental caries and gingivitis. Most people who experience halitosis are intraoral halitosis, which is bad breath caused by bacterial activity. Basil leaves (Ocimum sanctum) have antibacterial, antioxidant, and antifungal activities that can be used as natural antibacterial agents. Objective: To determine the effect of basil leaves (Ocimum sanctum) on bacteria that cause halitosis. Method: Literature review by searching through several electronic databases based on keywords. has been determined, then proceed with selecting the literature using the PRISMA method. Research Results: Based on the literature study that has been carried out from the 8 journals above, it can be concluded that basil (Ocimum sanctum) leaves can be used as innovative findings against halitosis.
