Abstract
English Abstract
Indonesia is a country with the fifth largest number of diabetics in the world. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, especially in developing countries. Drug related problems are conditions in drug therapy that have the potential to interfere with the expected therapeutic targets. Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus receive a wide range of pharmacological therapy agents so that they are at high risk of experiencing DRPs which can have adverse effects on the patient. The purpose of this study is analyze drug related problems that occur in geriatric patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The research was conducted using a systematic literature review technique, articles taken from bases or journals were original articles in the 2012-2021 range and indexed by DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journal), Scopus with a minimum value of quartile 4 (Q4), PubMed, Science Direct , ResearchGate, and Google Scholar. Meanwhile, national journals are at least SINTA 2 accredited. Based on the results of a literature search, 15 articles were found and then an evaluation was carried out. Article evaluation is classified based on the evaluation value, namely low, medium, and high quality. Of the 15 articles evaluated using critical appraisal tools, it was found that five research articles had high quality, ten research articles had medium quality, and none had low quality research articles. The overall results of the 15 articles that have been analyzed show that the most common DRPs are side effect reactions (9 articles), inappropriate drugs (7 articles), and drug interactions (6 articles). While the drug classes that often trigger DRPs are antihypertensive drugs (87%) and antidiabetic drugs (80%).
