Abstract
Penelitian ini berfokus pada analisis penggambaran budaya pemerkosaan pada Promising Young Woman karya Emerlad Fennel. Permasalahan yang akan diekspresikan dalam penelitian ini difokuskan pada satu pertanyaan: bagaimana konsep balas dendam digunakan sebagai satu-satunya cara untuk melayani keadilan dan faktor-faktor yang mendorong balas dendam dianggap lebih efektif daripada sistem hukum yang ada? Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa menggunakan keadilan retributif dan menggunakan balas dendam tidak membawa keadilan bagi kasus kekerasan seksual atau pemerkosaan tertentu, terlepas dari bukti dan kebenaran yang terurai. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat bermanfaat bagi pembaca yang ingin menjalani studi di bawah “budaya pemerkosaan”.
English Abstract
This study focuses in analysing the portrayal of rape culture in Emerald Fennel’s Promising Young Woman. The problems to be expressed in this study are focused in one question: how the concept of revenge is used as the only way to serve justice and the factors which drive revenge to be considered more effective than the existing system of law? This research uses descriptive quantitative as the method. This research reveals that using retributive justice and using revenge does not bring justice to certain sexual assault or rape cases, regardless of the evidences and unraveled truths. This research is expected to be beneficial for readers who aim to undergo studies under “rape culture”.
