Abstract

Danau Limboto merupakan danau terbesar di Provinsi Gorontalo. Secara administratif, danau ini terletak di Kabupaten Gorontalo dan Kota Gorontalo, berada di dataran rendah ± 5 m di atas permukaan laut dan posisinya berada di pinggiran Kota Gorontalo. Perubahan penutupan tutupan lahan dan alih fungsi lahan pada Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) Limboto tersebut berdampak makin meluasnya lahan kritis yang meningkatkan resiko erosi dan bahaya erosi serta menyebabkan makin besar volume muatan angkutan sedimen pada sungai dan anak sungai yang bermuara ke danau Limboto yang pada akhirnya mengakibatkan Danau Limboto berada pada kondisi kritis karena pendangkalan dan penyusutan luas. Penurunan daya tampung mengakibatkan hampir setiap musim hujan pada daerah-daerah sekitar danau mengalami banjir. Daerah yang selalu tergenang pada saat musim hujan adalah di sekitar danau daerah hilir Sungai Biyonga dan Sungai Tapodu, serta area disepanjang sungai Alopohu.

English Abstract

Limboto Lake is the largest lake in Gorontalo Province. Administratively, this lake is located in Gorontalo Regency and Gorontalo City, is in the lowlands of ± 5 m above sea level and its position is on the outskirts of Gorontalo City. Changes in land cover and land use change in the Limboto Watershed (DAS) have an impact on the expansion of cri tical land which increases the risk of erosion and erosion hazard and causes a larger volume of sediment transport in rivers and creeks that empties into Lake Limboto which in the end resulting in Lake Limboto is in a critical condition due to siltation and shrinkage of the area. The decrease in capacity has resulted in flooding in almost every rainy season in the areas around the lake. Areas that are always flooded during the rainy season are around the lakes in the lower reaches of the Biyonga and Tapodu rivers, as well as areas along the Alopohu river.
