Abstract
English Abstract
The dense population of Malang City which is increasing every year affects the water quality of the Sitiarjo Village Watershed. The activities of residents along the river that continue to grow can affect the quality of river water. This is because more and more waste is produced which is discharged directly into the river. The Sitiarjo Village Watershed is used by the community for household, industrial, and agricultural purposes. This makes the Watershed a very important river, especially for the people of Sitiarjo Village. Gastropods are often used as an illustration of determining the condition of a waters. Thus, water quality can be indicated by the presence of gastropods. Hemocytes are red blood cells in invertebrates that function as major immune effectors. The aims of this study are: to analyze the water quality of the watershed in Sitiarjo Village, Sumbermanjing District, Malang Regency, to analyze the hemocytic profile of gastropods to predict the presence of pollution in the watershed in Sitiarjo Village, Sumbermanjing District, Malang Regency, and to analyze the relationship of physical water quality parameters. (temperature, TSS, and TDS) and chemical (pH, DO, Ammonia, and BOD) on gastropod haemocyte profiles to predict the presence of contamination in the watershed in Sitiarjo Village, Sumbermanjing District, Malang Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive method. Data collection in this study consisted of primary data and secondary data. The research started from March – May 2022. This research activity consisted of measuring water quality parameters and observing hemocytes. The results of temperature parameters ranged from 24 – 26°C, TSS measurements ranged from 12 – 35 mg/l, TDS measurements ranged from 82 – 208 mg/l, pH measurements ranged from 7.6 – 8.2 ; DO measurements ranged from 8.5 to 8.8 mg/l, ammonia measurements ranged from 0.01 to 0.862 mg/l, and BOD measurements ranged from 6.9 to 13.8 mg/l. THC measurements ranged from 36 – 73 x 104 cells/ml with the results of hyalinocytes 41.67 – 67.33%; semi-granulocytes ranged from 21.23 to 25.95%; and granulocytes ranged from 8.99 to 11.9%. The results of the pollution index show that the river is categorized as moderately polluted. Based on the results that have been concluded, the suggestions that can be given are that it is necessary to reduce the amount of waste that enters the river by the surrounding community and the need for counseling and monitoring by the Malang Environment Service, East Java so that the condition of the river is maintained.
