Abstract
Gigi dan rongga mulut memiliki berbagai fungsi penting dalam tubuh, umumnya pada usia tua gigi kebanyakan akan mengalami kerusakan dan tanggal. Tingginya tingkat pengetahuan dari masyarakat mengenai konsep geriatri kedokteran gigi akan mempengaruhi masyarakat mengenai pentingnya menjaga, mencegah dan mengetahui permasalahan gigi dan rongga mulut yang akan muncul pada usia lanjut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat Jawa Timur tentang konsep geriatri kedokteran gigi. Penelitian dilakukan melalui survei daring menggunakan google form dengan teknik snowballing sampling yang disebarkan melaui media sosial. Survei terdiri dari dua bagian kuesioner yaitu untuk menilai pengetahuan masyarakat Jawa Timur mengenai konsep geriatri dan geriatri kedokteran gigi. Hasil Penelitian ini berhasil didapatkan sebanyak 408 responden yang tersebar di 34 kabupaten/kota di Jawa Timur. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat pengetahuan tentang konsep geriatri kedokteran gigi pada masyarakat Jawa Timur didominasi oleh kategori tingkat pengetahuan cukup (87.7%) dan tingkat pengetahuan baik (12.3%). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah gambaran tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat Jawa Timur tentang konsep geriatri kedokteran gigi didominasi oleh tingkat pengetahuan cukup.
English Abstract
Teeth and oral cavity have various important functions in the body, generally in old age most teeth will experience decay and fall out. The high level of knowledge from the community about the concept of geriatric dentistry will affect the community regarding the importance of maintaining, preventing and knowing dental and oral problems that will arise in old age. This study aims to describe the level of knowledge about the concept of geriatric dentistry in the East Java community. The study used an online survey method with the help of a Google form distributed through social media. The determination of the sample used the snowball sampling technique. The survey used a questionnaire that consisted of two parts to assess the community’s knowledge about the concepts of geriatrics and geriatric dentistry. Data were collected from 408 respondents spread across 34 districts/cities in East Java. The results of the study showed that the level of knowledge about the concept of geriatric dentistry in the East Java community was dominated by the category of sufficient (87.7%) and good knowledge level (12.3%). The conclusion of this research is the description of the level of knowledge of the people of East Java about the concept of geriatric dentistry is dominated by the level of sufficient knowledge.
