Abstract
ujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis korelasi ukuran kuantitatif tubuh terhadap bobot badan serta mengevaluasi karakteristik kualitatif domba ekor gemuk dan domba merino di peternakan rakyat. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu sebanyak 107 ekor domba yang terdiri dari 62 ekor domba ekor gemuk betina, 35 ekor domba merino betina, dan 20 ekor domba merino jantan. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode studi kasus dengan penimbangan dan pengukuran langsung, dan data penilaian karakteristik secara visual. Sampel dikelompokkan berdasarkan umur dan dipilih yang tidak terdapat cacat serta kondisi tubuh sehat. Variabel yang diteliti meliputi bobot badan, Panjang badan, tinggi badan, lingkar ekor, panjang ekor, panjang kaki atas dan bawah bagian depan dan belakang, ketebalan wol, serta body condition score (BCS). Data kuantitatif pada penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan analisis korelasi dan regresi linier sederhana pada Microsoft excel. Data kualitatif diolah menggunakan frekuensi relative (%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai korelasi tertinggi (0,7 – 0,9) pada rata-rata variabel diperoleh pada domba muda berumur di bawah dua tahun. Nilai tertinggi koefisien korelasi panjang badan terhadap bobot badan sebesar 0,95 dengan nilai persamaan regresi Y = -99,17 + 2,21X, koefisien korelasi tinggi badan terhadap bobot badan 0,93 dengan nilai persaaan regresi Y = -59,39 + 1,64, koefisien korelasi lingkar ekor terhadap bobot badan 0,48 dengan nilai persamaan regresi Y = 31,31 + 0,55X, koefisien korelasi panjang ekor terhadap bobot badan sebesar 0,91 dan persamaan regresi Y = -31,08 + 2,24X, koefisien korelasi panjang kaki depan terhadap bobot badan sebesar 0,94 dengn persamaan regresi Y = -60,97 + 4,92X, koefisien korelasi panjang kaki belakang sebesar 0,79 dengan persamaan regresi Y = 10,29 + 0,78X. Karakteristik menunjukkan domba ekor gemuk dan domba Merino memiliki bentuk telinga menyamping, warna tubuh putih dan bentuk ekor sigmoid dan segitiga
English Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation of quantitative body size with body weight and evaluate the qualitative characteristics of fat-tailed sheep and merino sheep in smallholder farms. The material used in this study were 107 sheeps consisting of 62 female fat-tailed sheep, 35 female merino sheep, and 20 male merino sheep. The method used in this study was a case study, where the data obtained were primary data from direct weighing and measurement, direct interviews to the farmers, and visual characteristics observation. The samples were grouped by age and there were no defects also the sheep must have a good health condition. The variables were body weight, body length, body height, tail circumference, tail length, front and hind upper also lower leg lengths, wool thickness, and body condition scroe (BCS). The quantitative data in this study were analyzed using correlation analysis and simpler linear regression in microsoft excel, while the qualitative data were analyzed using relative frequency (%). The result showed that the highest correlation value (0.7 – 0.9) on the average variables was obtained in young sheep under two years of age. The highest value of the correlation coefficient of body length to body weight is 0.95 with the value of the regression equation Y = -99.17 + 2.21X, the correlation coefficient of height to body weight is 0.93 with the regression equation Y = -59.39 + 1 .64, the correlation coefficient of tail circumference to body weight is 0.48 with the value of the regression equation Y = 31.31 + 0.55X, the correlation coefficient of tail length to body weight is 0.91 and the regression equation Y = -31.08 + 2, 24X, the correlation coefficient for front leg length to body weight is 0.94 with the regression equation Y = -60.97 + 4.92X, the rear leg length correlation coefficient is 0.79 with the regression equation Y = 10.29 + 0.78X. Characteristics show fat tail sheep and Merino sheep have side ear shape, white body color and sigmoid and triangular tail shape.
