Abstract
English Abstract
Siraisan Village is one of the villages in Padang Lawas Regency which is located in the upper reaches of the Barumun River. The Barumun River is used as a place for rainwater to flow, whose existence cannot be separated from human activities around the watershed area. Community activities around the river have an effect on increasing the amount of domestic waste to the body of the Barumun River which has the potential to reduce the quality of river water. Research on the water body of the Barumun River that crosses the Siraisan Village area needs to be done toknowing the condition of the water quality status of the Barumun River and knowing its pollution index. This is done as an effort in quality monitoring, quality management and pollution control of the Barumun River. Sampling was carried out using the grab sampling method with 3 sampling points for 3 days, namely:on the river section before entering Siraisan Village (T1), the river section representing the Village areaSiraisan (T2) and part of the river after passing Siraisan Village (T3). Parameters analyzed were temperature, pH, DO, BOD, COD, nitrate and phosphate. The results of river water testing use quality standards based on Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 22 of 2021 and continue with determining the status of water quality using the pollution index method. The pollution index value at point T1 has a lightly polluted water quality status with a pollution index value of 1.67. The pollution index at points T2 and T3 meet the status of water quality standards with a pollution index value of 0.63 and 0.62.
