Abstract
Gadget merupakan salah satu perkembangan teknologi yang banyak diminati orang dewasa bahkan anak-anak. Penggunaan gadget tanpa pengawasan dan pendampingan orang tua dapat mengakibatkan kecanduan pada anak dan terganggunya tumbuh kembang anak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi pengalaman ibu dalam mengasuh anak usia sekolah dasar dengan gangguan psikososial akibat kecanduan handphone. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi interpretatif. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dengan mengunakan pedoman wawancara semi terstruktur, pada enam orang partisipan. Analisa data menggunakan Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Proses diawali dengan membaca transkrip berulang untuk menemukan kata kunci dari masing - masing partisipan, selanjutnya peneliti mengklasifikasikan kategori, kemudian menetapkan tema. Hasil analisa data ditemukan dua belas tema, yaitu 1) memberikan handphone dapat membuat anak menjadi “anteng”, 2) menyadari kecanduan handphone membuat anak jadi pemarah dan kasar, 3) menyadari fokus bermain handphone membuat anak manjadi malas beraktivitas dan prestasi menurun, 4) orang tua menjadi kompak dalam mendidik anak, 5) rutin membawa anak konsultasi dan banyak memberikan kegiatan konvensional, 6) Fokus mengontrol anak dengan melakukan apapun saat mendampingi menggunakan handphone, 7) mendapatkan manfaat dari terapi dan konsultasi, 8) merasa sangat sedih dan bersalah, 9) berharap anak bisa berubah menjadi lebih baik, 10) merasa dilema dalam mengijinkan penggunaan handphone pada anak, 11) menggunakan handphone lagi karena pengaruh teman, 12) digunjing orang membuat orang tua termotivasi untuk membawa anak terapi. Pada penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa orang tua dalam mengasuh anak memberikan kebebasan kepada anak dalam menggunakan handphone. Hal ini menyebabkan dampak negatif pada anak yaitu kecanduan handphone.
English Abstract
Nowadays, the development of technology has progressed in various sectors, one of that is felt by community is the developments in communication sector through the availability of sophisticated communication device that known as mobile phone. At the present, mobile phone is more used as companions in various age groups, in both of children and adults. The development of mobile phones not only has great benefits, but also an impact on user, one of which is the occurrence of mobile phone addiction to children. Mobile phone addiction to children cannot be separated from the role of parents in giving freedom to children in their use. Lately, parents give mobile phone to children to facilitate in communication and as a device for education, but without special supervision from parents, it caused addiction for children, thus it interferes with the child's growth and development. This study aimed to explore the experiences of mothers in parenting for elementary school-aged children with psychosocial disorders due to mobile phone addiction. The research method used was qualitative research method with an interpretative phenomenology approach. Interpretative phenomenology to find meaning or essence of the experience that experienced by mothers who had children with mobile phone addiction was then interpreted into words that were spoken and paid attention to the body language shown by participant. The data collection technique was conducted through in-depth Interview using the semi- structured interview guidelines. The duration of the interview ranges from 45-60 minutes using a sound recording on mobile phone. This study involved six participants who were selected according to the inclusion criteria established by the researcher. The selection of participants who met the inclusion criteria was assisted by the head of psychologist poly. The researcher conducted an interview at the residence of the mother of child who was experiencing mobile phone addiction, the choice of time and location was the result of mutual agreement between the participants and the researcher. The results of interviews were recorded using a recording device while to see the facial expressions, gestures and body language of participants, the researchers used video recordings and field notes made directly by the researcher, during the interview. The results of interview recordings of each participant were converted into verbatim transcripts without reducing the contents of the conversation. Data that had been carried out verbatim was then analyzed using IPA (Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis) method to find themes and interrelationships between themes The data analysis result on six participants obtained twelve themes related to mother’s experience in caring for primary school-aged children who experienced mobile phone addiction including: 1) Giving mobile phone could make a child become "calm". 2) Recognizing mobile phone addiction made children being angry and rude. 3) Realizing the focus of playing mobile phone makes children lazy to move and decrease performance. 4) Parents become compact in educating children. 5) Routine bringing children for consultation and providing many activities. 6) Focus on controlling children by doing anything when accompanying using handphone. 7) Getting benefit from therapy and consultation. 8) Feeling very sad and guilty. 9) Hoping that children could change for the better and not addicted to mobile phone. 10) Feeling a dilemma in allowing mobile phone use in children. 11) Using a mobile phone because of friends’ influence. 12) Digging people makes parents motivated to bring child to conduct therapy. The twelve themes then yield a link between themes, which is now becoming compact in applying the rules for using mobile phones. The childcare process was parenting that involving various parties, including parents, family members, schools and health workers. Success in caring for children could be achieved if the family paid attention and applied good parenting commitments. The experience of mothers in caring for school-age children with mobile phone addiction was a complex experience related to Providing mobile phones could make children "calm", feeling mobile addiction caused various problems for children psychologically and socially such as angry, rude, lazy to do activities and decreased performance, so as to be compact in educating children, then mothers no longer experienced anxiety. Not all experiences of mothers with mobile addiction children had a negative impact on participants. The experience of mothers with children who were addicted to mobile phones made participants were aware of their mistakes in parenting for children, Focus on controlling children by doing anything when accompanying using handphone, gossiping by other people made the parents motivated to bring children into routine therapy and participants knew that the consultation and therapy were very beneficial recover children from mobile addiction and provided parents with a correct understanding of the use of mobile phone for children. With a compact rule that was applied by parents and children in using mobile phones could provide very good hope for the future of their children. Caring for children by ignoring the rules and restrictions in using mobile phones had a negative impact on children’s growth and development thus it required setting rules from parents to children to overcome mobile phone addiction. Parents should set a timetable for mentoring and supervising in the use of mobile phone such as to access games and applications that increase knowledge for children.
