Abstract

English Abstract

Utilization of the Dumoga River which empties into Inobonto Beach is thought to have undergone changes in river ecosystems due to the influence of human activities such as household, agricultural and industrial activities. Ecosystem changes are thought to affect river conditions, water quality and the biology of eel on the Dumoga River. This study aims to determine and analyze river conditions, species characteristics and mapping potential eels. Based on the results of the study, the condition of the Dumoga river and water quality are in optimal conditions for the distribution and growth of eel, both glass eel, and yellow eel. 2,251 glass eels in the mouth of the Dumoga River, 49.13% of Anguilla marmorata, 37.94% of Anguilla bicolor pacific and 12.93% of Anguilla spp. In morphological measurements, ano-dorsal values were divided into three groups, namely 14.90% - 16.14% (A. marmorata); 0% -2.87% (A. bicolor pacifica) and 6.85% - 7.21% (Anguilla sp.). Tail pigmentation A. marmorata reaches the tip with a slightly rounded tail, pigment in A. bic. pacifica is shaped like a broom/ brush and in Anguilla spp., the shape of the tail bone is more similar to A. marmorata with broom-shaped pigments as in A. bic. pacifica, but paler and less dense. The overall growth pattern of eel is a negative allometric, which is a slower weight gain compared to the increase in body length. Eel on Dumoga River is classified as not fat because the condition factor ranges from 0.0024 to 0.0036. The average length of adult eels sampled was 58.92cm in A. marmorata (IKG 1.57–2.90%); 54.2cm on A. bic. pacifica (IKG 1.27–2.79%) and 52.32cm on Anguilla spp (IKG 0.97-2.50%). Comparison of Lc values with Lm for A. marmorata, namely Lc = 65cm and Lm = 74.74cm; on A. bic. pacifica Lc = 57,51cm and Lm = 68,26cm and on Anguilla spp. obtained Lc = 52.50cm and Lm = 64.02cm. Mapping the location of eel on Dumoga River based on water quality conditions, glass eel abundance and maturity index of adult eel gonads.
