Abstract

Latar Belakang: Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement (RMGIC) memiliki kekuatan yang baik tetapi tidak dapat digunakan di daerah dengan tekanan oklusal yang tinggi. Penambahan nanofiller hidroksiapatit dari cangkang telur ayam ke dalam bubuk RMGIC dapat meningkatkan kekuatan tekannya. Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh penambahan nanofiller hidroksiapatit dari cangkang telur ayam terhadap kekuatan tekan RMGIC. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian True Experimental dengan rancangan penelitian Post Test Only Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 32, yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok (n=16) yaitu kelompok kontrol dan kelompok RMGIC dengan penambahan 5% nanofiller hidroksiapatit. Sampel berbentuk silinder dengan diameter 4 mm dan tinggi 6 mm. Sampel diinkubasi pada suhu 37 oC di dalam akuades selama 24 jam, kemudian dilakukan uji kekuatan tekan menggunakan Universal Testing Machine. Hasil: Pada uji T tidak berpasangan, didapatkan nilai p=0,043 (p<0,05) yang berarti terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pada penambahan nanofiller hidroksiapatit dari cangkang telur ayam terhadap kekuatan tekan RMGIC. Kesimpulan: Penambahan nanofiller hidroksiapatit dari cangkang telur ayam dapat meningkatkan kekuatan tekan RMGIC secara signifikan.

English Abstract

Background: Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement (RMGIC) has good strength, but cannot be used in areas with high occlusal stress. The incorporation of hydroxyapatite nanofiller from chicken egg shells into RMGIC powder can increase its compressive strength. Objective: To determine the effect of the incorporation of hydroxyapatite nanofiller from chicken egg shell on the compressive strength of RMGIC. Methods: This study was conducted using a True Experimental type research with Post Test Only Control Group Design. The research samples were 32, divided into two groups (n=16): a control group and a group of RMGIC with the incorporation of 5% hydroxyapatite nanofiller. The samples were cylindrical with a diameter of 4 mm and a height of 6 mm. The samples were immersed in distilled water and stored in incubator at 37 oC for 24 hours, then the compressive strength test was performed using a Universal Testing Machine. Results: The results of the independent T test showed a value of p=0.043 (p<0.05), which means that there was a significant effect of the incorporation of hydroxyapatite nanofiller from chicken egg shells on the compressive strength of RMGIC. Conclusion: The incorporation of hydroxyapatite nanofiller from chicken egg shells can significantly increase the compressive strength of RMGIC.
