Abstract

Latar Belakang: Pendidikan klinik sudah dirancang untuk menghasilkan lulusan yang memiliki kompetensi dalam ilmu kedokteran dan kedokteran gigi serta keterampilan dalam bidang kedokteran gigi. Kompetensi Radiologi Kedokteran Gigi merupakan salah satu capaian yang harus dipenuhi guna mencetak dokter gigi yang berkualitas. Mahasiswa profesi perlu mencapai kompetensi radiologi kedokteran gigi agar memperkecil kesalahan dan kegagalan yang terjadi. Dalam menentukan diagnosa diperlukan kualitas radiograf yang baik, agar diagnosis tepat dan akurat. Namun, kesalahan dan kualitas radiograf yang kurang baik masih sering ditemukan sehingga menyebabkan pengambilan radiograf ulang. Hal ini secara signifikan menambah kontak pasien dengan radiasi yang tidak sesuai dengan asas ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable). Institusi memiliki peran penting dalam menanamkan pengetahuan pada mahasiswa sehingga frekuensi kegagalan radiograf dapat dikurangi. Maka, evaluasi dalam pendidikan kedokteran gigi perlu dilakukan untuk melihat tingkat kinerja sistem dan perencanaan modifikasi sesuai kebutuhan teknis apabila diperlukan. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendidikan klinik terhadap pencapaian kompetensi radiologi kedokteran gigi pada mahasiswa profesi. Metode: Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Study Literatur Review (SLR). Metode SLR digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi, mengkaji, mengevaluasi, dan menafsirkan semua temuan literatur secara sistematis, yang pada setiap prosesnya mengikuti langkah-langkah atau protokol yang telah ditetapkan. Hasil: Tinjauan literatur ini membuktikan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pendidikan klinik terhadap pencapaian kompetensi radiologi kedokteran gigi pada mahasiswa profesi. Pendidikan klinik terbukti memberikan dampak positif dan pengaruh yang sangat besar terhadap peningkatan pemahaman interpretasi radiograf, peningkatan pemahaman optimalisasi dosis, dan penurunan presentase kesalahan pembuatan radiograf.

English Abstract

Background: Clinical Education has been designed to make graduates who have competency in the medical science and dentistry science along with the skill in the dentistry. Competency in Dentistry Radiology is one of the achievement that has to be obtained; to develop quality dentist. Professional Student need to obtain competency in dentistry radiology, to minimize the errors and mistakes. To determine the diagnosis it is required to have good result of radiograph for its correctness and accuracy. However, errors and poor quality radiographs are still frequently occurred. Technical error made by operator will lead redoing the radiograph, which significantly increased radiation exposure to the patient this definitely breached the principle of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable). Academic institution is having crusial role to educate students the awareness to avoid radiographic error. Hence, evaluation in dental clinical education need to be done; to monitor the performance of the system, and the modification plan in accordance to any technical requirement. Aim: To determine the effect of clinical education, toward achievement of oral radiology competency of professional student reduction rate of error in radigraphic imaging. Method: The type of research using Study Literature Review (SLR). SLR method is used to identify, study, evaluate, and interpret all literature findings systematically, which in each process follows the established steps or protocols. Result: This literature observation gave evidence that there is impact from clinical education toward achievement of dentistry radiology competency of professional student. Clinical education give positive effect and greatly determine the improvement of understanding on radiology interpretation, understanding of dosage optimization, and reduction of error percentage when making radiographic imaging.
