Abstract

Defek tulang merupakan sebuah kondisi yang paling sering ditemui pada tulang alveolar. Defek tulang dapat disebabkan oleh infeksi bakteri pada tulang alveolar, trauma, neoplasma, defek kongenital maupun resorbsi tulang alveolar. Defek tulang dapat menyebabkan gigi goyang dan tanggal juga dapat menyebabkan kerusakan permanen pada jaringan periodontal. Salah satu komponen yang mendukung penyembuhan tulang adalah Osteoprotegerin (OPG) yang dihasilkan oleh sel osteoblast. Cangkang telur mengandung kalsium karbonat yang dapat meningkatkan aktivitas sel osteoblast. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Efek Bubuk Cangkang Telur Ayam terhadap Ekspresi Osteoprotegerin pada proses penyembuhan luka Tikus WIstar Jantan dengan defek tulang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode True Experimental Laboratory secara in vivo dengan metode Randomized Posttest Only Controlled Group Design. Kelompok kontrol terdiri dari dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif adalah hewan coba yang tidak diberi perlakuan apapun dan kelompok kontrol positif adalah hewan coba yang diberi perlakuan pemberian defek tulang pada tulang mandibula bagian bukal kiri. Kelompok perlakuan adalah hewan coba yang diberikan perlakuan berupa pemberian defek tulang pada tulang mandibula bagian bukal kiri serta pemberian bubuk cangkang telur yang dicampurkan ke pakan tikus selama 42 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat efek pemberian bubuk cangkang telur terhadap jumlah sel osteoblast yang mengekspresikan OPG. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pemberian bubuk cangkang telur ayam memiliki efek signifikan terhadap ekspresi OPG pada proses penyembuhan tulang mandibular Tikus Wistar jantan dengan defek tulang.

English Abstract

Bone defect is a condition we found often in alveolar bone. Bone defect is caused by several factors, like bacterial infection, trauma, neoplasm, congenital defect or alveolar bone resorption. Bone defect can cause several problems to periodontal tissue such as tooth sway, tooth exfoliation and even caused a permanent destruction to periodontal tissues. Osteoprotegerin is one of the component produced by Osteoblast that could affects bone healing. Eggshell contains carbonate calcium that could increase osteoblastic cells activities. This aims of the study is to determine the Effect of Chicken Egg Shell Powder on Osteoprotegerin Expression in the wound healing process of Male Rats with bone defects. This study uses the True Experimental Laboratory method in vivo with the Randomized Posttest Only Controlled Group Design method. The control group consisted of two groups, namely the negative control group were experimental animals that were not given any treatment and the positive control group were experimental animals who were treated with bone defects in the left buccal mandible. The treatment group was experimental animals which were given treatment in the form of giving bone defects in the left buccal mandibular bone as well as giving eggshell powder mixed into rat feed for 42 days. The results showed that there was an effect of giving eggshell powder to the number of osteoblast cells expressing OPG. The conclusion of this study was that the administration of chicken eggshell powder had a significant effect on OPG expression in the healing process of mandibular bone in male Wistar rats with bone defects
