Abstract

Anak-anak gemar mengkonsumsi minum-minuman instan yang beberapa diantaranya dapat mempengaruhi kesehatan gigi dan mulut karena kandungan asam di dalamnya, contohnya seperti minuman yoghurt dan jus lemon. Jus lemon dan yoghurt memiliki pH yang rendah sehingga apabila dikonsumsi secara terus menerus dapat menyebabkan erosi gigi. Erosi gigi dapat terjadi karena adanya proses demineralisasi pada permukaan gigi dengan penguraian prisma enamel perifer yang terjadi apabila derajat keasaman yang berkontak dengan gigi berada pada pH<5,5. Proses demineralisasi gigi yang terus berlanjut akan membentuk porositas pada permukaan enamel gigi sehingga dapat menyebabkan larutnya mineral kalsium dalam gigi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui adanya perbedaan kadar kalsium gigi sulung yang terlarut setelah direndam dalam jus buah lemon (Citrus limon) dan yoghurt. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental laboratoris (true experimental) dengan rancangan penelitian menggunakan post test control group design. Pengujian kalsium yang terlarut menggunakan alat Spektofotometer Serapan Atom (SSA). Sampel yang digunakan adalah gigi insisivus sulung rahang bawah sebanyak 27 buah yang dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok setiap sampel dalam tiga waktu yang berbeda yaitu 6 jam, 12 jam dan 18 jam. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu diperoleh hasil rata-rata kelarutan kalsium pada enamel gigi sulung paling besar yaitu pada perendaman gigi sulung dengan jus lemon 18 jam. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan (p<0,05) pada kadar kalsium gigi sulung setelah direndam dalam jus buah lemon dan yoghurt. Semakin rendah pH larutan dan semakin lama waktu larutan tersebut berkontak dengan gigi, maka semakin tinggi jumlah kadar kalsium gigi yang terlarut

English Abstract

Children like to consume instant drinks, some of them can affect oral health because of the acidic content in it, for example, lemon juice and yogurt. Lemon juice and yogurt have a low pH so if consumed continuously it can cause tooth erosion. Tooth erosion can occur due to the demineralization process on the tooth surface by decomposing the peripheral enamel prism which can occurs when the degree of acidity in contact with the teeth is at pH <5.5. The continuous demineralization process of teeth will form porosity on the surface of tooth enamel so it can cause the dissolution of calcium minerals in teeth. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in dissolved calcium levels of primary teeth after soaking in lemon juice and yogurt. Method of this study was an experimental laboratories (true experimental) with a posttest control group design. The dissolved calcium was tested using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The sample was 27 mandibular primary incisor which were divided into three groups for each sample in three different times, 6 hours, 12 hours and 18 hours. The results of this study showed that the greatest average solubility of calcium in primary tooth enamel was immersion of primary teeth in lemon juice for 18 hours. Based on the research, it can conclude that there was a significant difference (p <0.05) in the dissolved calcium levels of primary teeth after soaking in lemon juice and yogurt. The lower the pH of the solution and the longer time the solution is in contact with the teeth, the higher amount of dissolved dental calcium.
