Abstract

Maloklusi kelas I Angle adalah kelainan dalam susunan gigi geligi berupa malposisi gigi atau malrelasi lengkung gigi dengan relasi Molar pertama permanen normal atau neutroklusi, namun terdapat kelainan pada garis oklusi atau malposisi gigi, seperti terdapatnya gigi anterior berdesakan. Gigi anterior berdesakan menyebabkan gangguan estetik pada seseorang. Untuk mengembalikan posisi gigi geligi sesuai lengkungnya, perlu dilakukan pencarian ruang terlebih dahulu. Salah satu cara untuk mencari ruang adalah dengan melakukan ekspansi lengkung gigi dengan menggunakan sekrup ekspansi transversal pada peranti ortodonti lepasan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh sekrup ekspansi transversal pada peranti ortodonti lepasan terhadap lebar lengkung gigi rahang atas pada kasus maloklusi kelas I Angle disertai gigi anterior berdesakan. Penelitian ini berupa penelitian observasional analitik dengan pendekatan kohort retrospektif. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan adalah 30 model studi pasien dengan maloklusi kelas I angle disertai gigi anterior berdesakan yang dirawat ortodonti menggunakan sekrup ekspansi transversal pada peranti ortodonti lepasan pada saat sebelum dan sesudah pemakaian sekrup ekspansi transversal. Lebar lengkung gigi berupa lebar interpremolar dan lebar intermolar diukur masing masing pada model studi sebelum dan sesudah pemakaian sekrup ekspansi transversal selama 12 sampai 24 minggu. Hasil penelitian melalui uji komparasi T berpasangan menyatakan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada lebar lengkung gigi sebelum dan sesudah pemakaian sekrup ekspansi transversal pada peranti ortodonti lepasan, dengan signifikansi lebih kecil dari α(0,000<0,050) pada lebar interpremolar dan lebih kecil dari α(0,000<0,050) pada lebar intermolar. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh sekrup ekspansi transversal pada peranti ortodonti lepasan terhadap lebar lengkung gigi rahang atas pada kasus maloklusi kelas I Angle disertai gigi anterior berdesakan.

English Abstract

Class I Angle malocclusion is an occlusion with normal relationship of permanent first Molar teeth but the line of occlusion is incorrect, such as crowding of anterior teeth. Anterior crowding will cause aesthetic disturbances in a person. To restore the position of the teeth in accordance with the arch, it is necessary to make a space first. One way to gain space is to expand the dental arch through the use of a transverse expansion screw on removable orthodontic appliance. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of transverse expansion screws on orthodontic removable appliance on the arch width of the maxillary teeth in Angle class I malocclusion accompanied by anterior crowding. This research is an analytic observational research with retrospective cohort approach. The number of samples were 30 study models of patients with Angle class I malocclusion with anterior crowding before and after expansion with transverse expansion screws on removable orthodontic appliance. The dental arches width were interpremolar width and intermolar width which were measured respectively in the study model before and after expansion with transverse expansion screws for 12 to 24 weeks of treatment. The results of the study through the Paired T-Test revealed that there were significant differences in the dental arch width before and after expansion with transverse expansion screws on removable orthodontic appliance, with significance less than α (0.000 <0.050) in interpremolar width and less than α (0.000 <0.050) in intermolar width. The conclusion is there is an effect of transverse expansion screws on removable orthodontic appliance on the maxillary dental arch width in Angle class I malocclusion with anterior crowding.
