Ranithanya, Andya and drg. Sari Kurniawati,, Sp.Ort. (2021) Perbedaan Posisi dan Bentuk Kondilus pada Maloklusi Skeletal klas II dan Maloklusi Skeletal Klas III. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
Background: Malocclusions formed during craniofacial development and growth have the ability to change the morphology of the temporomandibular joint components, and can affect the position of the condyles in the temporomandibular joint. This study aims to determine the differences in the position and shape of the condyles in skeletal Class II malocclusion and skeletal Class III malocclusion. Methods: This research is an analytic observational study. The position of the mandibular condyle was determined by measuring two distances, namely the vertical Co-T distance and the Co-TC distance on the cephalometric radiographs. The shape of the mandibular condyle was determined by observing the condyle of the mandible as shown on panoramic radiographs. Data were analyzed using the statistical approach Independent T-Test (for condyle position) and Continuity Correction Test (for condyle shape). Results: There was a significant difference (p <0.05) in the condyle position between skeletal Class II malocclusion and skeletal Class III malocclusion, and there was no significant difference (p> 0.05) in condyle shape between skeletal Class II malocclusion and skeletal Class III malocclusion. Conclusion: Skeletal malocclusion and mandibular condyle are related to each other, thus, that there are differences in the position of the mandibular condyles in skeletal Class II malocclusions and skeletal Class III malocclusions. And, there was no difference in the shape of the mandibular condyle between skeletal Class II malocclusion and skeletal Class III malocclusion.
