Abstract
Menulis teks diskusi merupakan salah satu kompetensi dasar yang diajarkan di kelas VIII SMP. Berdasarkan studi pendahuluan, diketahui bahwa keterampilan menulis siswa masih rendah. Hal tersebut dikarenakan siswa masih kesulitan menuangkan ide dan pendapat dalam menulis teks diskusi berdasarkan struktur dan ciri kebahasaan. Selain itu, teknik yang digunakan guru kurang bervariasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan peningkatan keterampilan menulis teks diskusi dengan menggunakan teknik concept sentence pada siswa kelas VIII-E SMPN 1 Singosari dari segi proses dan hasil. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII-E SMPN 1 Singosari. Data berupa data proses dan data hasil. Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan teknik observasi, tes, wawancara, dan angket. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan menulis teks diskusi oleh siswa kelas VIII-E dinyatakan meningkat setelah diterapkan teknik concept sentence baik dari segi proses maupun hasil. Peningkatan proses pembelajaran didasarkan pada hasil pengamatan aktivitas guru dan siswa dari siklus I sampai siklus II. Persentase keberhasilan siswa dalam menulis teks diskusi ditinjau dari aspek kelengkapan struktur, penggunaan ciri kebahasaan, keruntutan pemaparan, penggunaan kalimat, penggunaan EYD dan tanda baca. Persentase tahap prasiklus adalah 65,96%, persentase siklus I adalah 68,96%, dan persentase siklus II adalah 89,23%. Peningkatan persentase tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik concept sentence dapat meningkatkan proses dan hasil keterampilan menulis teks diskusi siswa kelas VIII-E SMPN 1 Singosari.
English Abstract
Writing discussion text is one of the basic competences that taught in the eighth grade of junior high school. Based on the previous studies, it is been known that the students writing ability is low. This is happened because the students hardly to put their idea and opinion in discussion text and language structures. Beside those factors, the technique that used by the teacher are lack of variations. The purpose of this research is to describe the improvement of writing discussion text using concept sentence to the students of VIII-E SMPN 1 Singosari, especially from the process and result. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. The subject of this research is the student of VIII-E SMPN 1 Singosari. The data is based on the process and result. The data is acquired using observation technique, test, interview, and questioner. The data is analyzed using descriptive qualitative. The result of this research shown that students’ writing discussion text ability from VIII-E are improved after the concept sentence implied, as well the process and the result. The improvement of the learning process is based on the observation from the teacher and students activity from the first cycle until the second cycle. The success percentage in writing discussion text reviewed from five aspects, there are structure completeness, the quality of explanation, language structure, the use of EYD, and the punctuation. The pre-cycle percentage are 65,96%, first cycle are 68,96%, and the second cycle are 89,23%. The percentage improvement shown that the implication of concept sentence technique able to improving the ability of writing discussion text of students VIII-E SMPN 1 Singosari.
