Abstract
Perkembangan industri pengolahan susu menyebabkan peningkatan limbah organik yang akan dibuang ke lingkungan. Limbah susu yang terakumulasi membuat kondisi lingkungan sekitar akan tercemar. Limbah industri pengolahan susu memiliki manfaat sebab limbah ini memiliki kandungan nitrogen yang tinggi. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mendapatkan banyaknya limbah sludge industri pengolahan susu menjadi media tanam untuk tanaman sawi hijau (Brassica juncea L.). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah percobaan dalam skala laboratorium dengan fokus pembahasan yaitu unsur hara nitrogen pada media tanam. Faktor penambahan berat sludge susu sebagai media tanam dalam lima perlakuan dengan berat sludge 0 kontrol gram (P1), 30 gram (P2), 120 gram (P3), 210 gram (P4), dan 300 gram (P5) dalam 1,2 kg media tanam dengan masing-masing 3 pengulangan. Total nitrogen, yield, jumlah dan luas daun tanaman sawi hijau, dan temperatur, pH, dan sisa nitrat media tanam. Adanya pengaruh yang nyata dari penambahan sludge terhadap total nitrogen, jumlah dan luas daun, serta berat basah dan kering tanaman. Perlakuan P3, P4, P5 terlihat adanya perbedaan yang sangat nyata terhadap kontrol (P1). Hasil uji pada total nitrogen, luas daun, berat basah tanaman menunjukan P5 memiliki hasil yang paling besar daripada perlakuan lain dengan rata-rata total nitrogen 4,47%, luas daun 359,647 cm2, dan berat basah 297,67 g, sedangkan jumlah daun dan berat kering yang paling besar adalah P4 dengan 20 helai daun dan 31,91 g berat kering. Uji Anova konsentrasai sisa nitrat media tanam pasca panen menunjukan tidak adanya pengaruh dari perlakuan. Rata-rata sisa nitrat paling sedikit adalah P1 dengan sisa sebanyak 125,45 mg/kg dan terbanyak adalah P5 dengan sisa sebanyak 307,375 mg/kg nitrat.
English Abstract
The development of the milk processing industry led to an increase in organic waste to be discharged into the environment. The accumulated milk waste makes the surrounding environmental conditions will be polluted. Industrial waste milk processing has benefits because this waste has a high nitrogen content. The purpose of the study was to obtain the amount of sludge waste of milk processing industry into a growing medium for green mustard plants (Brassica juncea L.). The research method used is an experiment on a laboratory scale with a focus on the discussion of nitrogen nutrients in the growing media. The addition factor of milk sludge weight as a growing medium in five treatments with sludge weight control 0 grams (P1), 30 grams (P2), 120 grams (P3), 210 grams (P4), and 300 grams (P5) in 1.2 kg of growing media with each 3 repetitions. Total nitrogen, yield, number and area of green mustard plant leaves, and temperature, pH, and residual nitrate growing media. There is a significant effect of the addition of sludge to the total nitrogen, the number and area of leaves, as well as the weight of wet and dry plants. Treatment P3, P4, P5 seen a very noticeable difference to the control (P1). Test results on total nitrogen, leaf area, wet weight of plants showed P5 has the greatest results than other treatments with an average total nitrogen 4.47%, leaf area 359.647 cm2, and wet weight 297.67 g, while the number of leaves and dry weight of the largest is P4 with 20 leaves and 31.91 g dry weight. ANOVA test of residual nitrate concentration of post-harvest planting media showed no effect of treatment. The average residual nitrate at least is P1 with a residual of 125.45 mg/kg and the most is P5 with a residual of 307.375 mg/kg nitrate.
