Abstract
Museum menjadi perantara untuk mendokumentasikan sejarah sebuah komunitas, tak terkecuali Museum Ketransmigrasian yang berada di Provinsi Lampung. Museum ini berdiri atas latar belakang sejarah transmigrasi masyarakat yang berada di sekitarnya. Nilai bangunan Museum yang penting bagi sejarah ternyata tak membuat Museum berada pada kondisi baik, justru kondisi yang disaksikan adalah kerusakan pada bangunan Museum. Bagaimanakah masyarakat menginterpretasikan sosok Museum Ketransmigrasian ini? Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif eksploratif dengan analisis semiotika Peirce pada kutub semiosis pembentukan interpretant. Pemilihan responden dilakukan secara accidental sampling (yang merupakan metode non-probability sampling) terhadap masyarakat sekitar keturunan transmigran yang sedang berada di lingkungan Museum Ketransmigrasian Provinsi Lampung untuk kemudian diwawancarai secara tak terstruktur. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengelompokan hasil wawancara berdasarkan tipologi interpretant. Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa proses interpretasi terhadap sosok bangunan Museum Ketransmigrasian telah dapat dilakukan secara abduksi dan deduksi. Proses penafsiran secara induksi tidak ditemukan dalam penelitian ini sehingga Museum belum menjadi argument bagi masyarakat sekitar. Pada cara penafsiran secara abduksi muncul kesan Museum sebagai pengingat sejarah, penyampai keharmonisan, rasa bangga, bersuasana kuno, bangunan menarik, rasa kehangatan, dan wujud akulturasi budaya. Pada cara penafsiran secara deduksi muncul interpretasi berupa kesan mengenaskan dan bentuk bangunan yang unik. Bentuk banguan unik didapat karena ukurannya yang besar dan bentuknya yang berbeda dibanding lingkungan sekitarnya. Kesan mengenaskan dapat muncul karena kondisi Museum yang mengalami banyak kerusakan, lebih lanjut lagi hal ini mengakibatkan ketidaknyamanan responden saat berada di lingkungan Museum dan menurunkan daya tariknya
English Abstract
Museums act as intermediaries to document the history of a community, including the Transmigration Museum in Lampung Province. This museum stands on the historical background of the transmigration of the surrounding community. The value of the museum building which is important for history does not make the Museum in good condition, in fact the condition that is witnessed is the damage to the Museum building. How do people interpret the figure of the Transmigration Museum? This study uses an exploratory qualitative approach with Peirce's semiotic analysis on the semiosis pole of interpretant formation. The selection of respondents was carried out by accidental sampling (which is the non-probability sampling methode) of the community around the descendants of transmigrants who were in the Transmigration Museum of Lampung Province to be interviewed in an unstructured manner. The analysis was done by grouping the interview results based on the typology of the interpretant. This study shows that the process of interpreting the figure of the building of the Museum of Transmigration can be done by abduction and deduction. The process of interpretation by induction is not found in this study so that the Museum has not become an argument for the surrounding community. In the way of interpretation by abduction, the impression of the Museum appears as a reminder of history, conveying harmony, a sense of pride, an ancient atmosphere, an interesting building, a sense of warmth, and a form of cultural acculturation. In the method of deductive interpretation, interpretations appear in the form of a pathetic impression and a unique building form. The unique shape of the building is obtained because of its large size and different shape compared to the surrounding environment. A sad impression can arise because of the condition of the Museum which has suffered a lot of damage, furthermore this causes the respondent's discomfort while in the Museum environment and reduces its attractiveness.
