Abstract
Ketamine merupakan agen anestesi disosiatif yang bekerja dengan menghambat sensitisasi sentral melalui blokade reseptor N-Methyl-D-Aspartat (NMDA) dan memberikan sifat analgesik yang dalam. Ketamine biasanya digunakan dalam tindakan pembedahan bersama dengan xylazine. Agen anestesi mulai dikembangkan pada reptil. Namun, penggunaan anestetik pada biawak masih sangat jarang, sehingga dilakukan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui penggunaan anestetik ketamine tunggal dan kombinasi ketamine–xylazine terhadap onset, durasi anestesi, laju denyut jantung, dan laju respirasi pada biawak. Delapan belas ekor biawak berumur 1 tahun dengan berat 100 – 200 gram dibagi menjadi kelompok ketamine 50 mg/kg BB dan kelompok kombinasi ketamine–xylazine 40 mg/Kg BB dan 1 mg/kg BB dan injeksi secara intramuskular. Onset dan durasi anestesi serta laju denyut jantung dan laju respirasi dicatat setiap 10 menit. Data penelitian dianalisa menggunakan uji T tidak berpasangan dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian pemberian ketamine tunggal dan kombinasi ketamine-xylazine menunjukkan adanya perbedaan nyata (P<0,05) terhadap onset, durasi anestesi, laju denyut jantung dan laju respirasi. Anestetik ketamine menunjukkan onset (8,22 menit), durasi anestesi (78,89 menit), laju denyut jantung (69,74 bpm) dan laju respirasi (18,11 kali/menit). Anestetik ketamine–xylazine menunjukkan onset (5,56 menit), durasi anestesi (145,56 menit), laju denyut jantung (57,75 bpm) dan laju respirasi (9,41 kali/menit). Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penggunaan anestetik kombinasi ketamine–xylazine menghasilkan onset yang lebih singkat dan durasi anestesi yang lebih lama, serta laju denyut jantung dan laju respirasi yang lebih lambat dibandingkan anestetik ketamine tunggal.
English Abstract
Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic agent that acts by inhibiting central sensitization by blocking the N-Methyl-D-Aspartate (NMDA) receptor and providing deep analgesic. Ketamine usually used in surgery combined with xylazine. Anesthetic agents were being developed in reptiles. However, the use of anesthetics in monitor lizards is still very rare, so this study was conducted to determine the use of ketamine alone and ketamine–xylazine combination on onset, duration of anesthesia, heart rate, and respiration rate in monitor lizards. Eighteen lizards aged 1 year weighing 100-200 grams were divided into the ketamine 50 mg/kg BW and the ketamine–xylazine combination 40 mg/Kg BW and 1 mg/kg BW and injected intramuscularly. The onset and duration of anesthesia as well as heart rate and respiration rate were recorded every 10 minutes. The research data were analyzed using unpaired T test with a confidence level of 95%. The results of the study of ketamine alone administration and ketamine-xylazine combination showed a significant difference (P <0.05) on the onset, duration of anesthesia, heart rate and respiration rate. Ketamine anesthetics showed onset (8.22 minutes), duration of anesthesia (78.89 minutes), heart rate (69.74 bpm) and respiration rate (18.11 beats/minute). Ketamine–xylazine anesthetics showed onset (5.56 minutes), duration of anesthesia (145.56 minutes), heart rate (57.75 bpm) and respiration rate (9.41 beats/minute). The conclusion of this study is that the use of a ketamine–xylazine combination anesthetic produces a shorter onset and a longer duration of anesthesia, as well as a slower heart rate and respiration rate than single ketamine anesthetics.
