Abstract
Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pidato pengukuhan Presiden Jokowi pada upacara pelantikan keduanya di tahun 2019 yang berjumlah 1258 kata, baik dari segi frekuensi dan fungsi nominalisasi, perangkat retoris, passivisasi, dan modalitas, berdasarkan teori Ideational Grammatical Metaphor oleh Halliday, di mana kita dapat belajar tentang prinsip dan kiasan politik yang paling efektif dan dominan. Pembicara dengan terampil menggunakan strategi dalam pidato yang terkait dengan tujuan politik yang dimaksudkan juga digambarkan menggunakan kerangka Critical Discourse Analysis oleh Fairclough berdasarkan perspektif Halliday. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nominalization, parallelism, unification dan cohesivation, serta modalality sebagai strategi dominan dalam tuturan. Teks tersebut juga berisi beberapa antithesis, expletive devices, dan passive voices, yang berkaitan dengan power dan ideology serta untuk memperindah teks tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukan beberapa implikasi terhadap penulisan dan bacaan politik, serta kekuasaan dan ideologi yang digambarkan oleh tokoh politik di Indonesia yang ditarik dalam bentuk nominalisasi.
English Abstract
The major objective of this study is to analyze President Jokowi’s inaugural speech at his second inauguration ceremony in 2019, totaling 1258 words, in terms of the frequency and functions of nominalization, rhetorical devices, passivization, and modality, based on the theory of Halliday’s Ideational Grammatical Metaphor, where we can learn about the most effective and dominant political principles and tropes. The speaker skillfully used the strategies in the speech that are intertwined with his intended political purposes is also depicted using Critical Discourse Analysis frameworks by Fairclough based on a perspective of Halliday. The result shows that nominalization, parallelism, unification and cohesivation, as well as modality used as a dominant strategy in the speech. The text also contains some antithesis, expletive devices, and passive voices, which are used regarding the power and ideology and to beautify the text. As a result, some implications for political writing and reading, as well as the power and ideology portrayed by political figures in Indonesia, are drawn in terms of nominalization.
