Abstract

Angka kejadian depresi postpartum cukup tinggi. Menurut WHO tahun 2013, sekitar 8-13% ibu perinatal menderita depresi postpartum di seluruh dunia.

English Abstract

Postpartum depression is depression experienced by 4-6 weeks postpartum mothers which are characterized by feelings of irritability, confusion, fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, guilty, inability to cope with problems and adaptation, and thoughts of suicide. The incidence of postpartum depression is quite high. According to WHO in 2013, about 8-13% of perinatal mothers suffer from postpartum depression worldwide. Postpartum depression is usually caused by psychological problems, mood disorders, hormonal changes, physical condition changes, and lack of social support. Social support has an important role in reducing the incidence of postpartum depression. Mothers who have good social support will feel that their roles are appreciated and are more confident in facing their new role as mothers. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between social support and the incidence of postpatum depression. The method is literature review. Data were taken from 10 international journals sourced from the Google scholar database, PubMed, and Proquest using the keywords "social support", "postpartum depression" and "social support and postpartum depression" from 2011-2020. The data synthesis method of literature review is conducted by the author uses the PICOT table (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, Time). Results: The greater of the social support that the mother receives, the lower of the postpartum depression incident will be. Conclusion: There is a negative relationship between social support and the incidence of postpartum depression. The lower social support which is received by postpartum mothers will make a higher incidence of postpartum depression. And the higher social support which is received by postpartum mothers will make a lower incidence of postpartum depression.
