Rahman Septiandi, Adrian (2021) Kelimpahan dan Densitas Rekrutmen Karang Keras Pada Settlement Plate Posisi Horizontal dan Vertikal Di Perairan Malang Selatan. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
Coral reefs are one of the ecosystems that have a unique life and are also part of a very important marine ecosystem because they are a source of life for various marine biota. Biodiversity and coral composition in an area depend on the reproductive process that occurs and the success rate of recruitment of corals that survive in these waters. The success of coral recruitment in the coral reef environment is determined by the availability of coral larvae, substrate for attachment of larvae and also water conditions that support the recruitment process. Most of the larvae that play a role in this coral recruitment process come from only one water area (local recruitment). Research on recruitment patterns using various artificial substrates as a medium for juvenile coral attachment shows that there is an effect of the type and surface structure of the substrate on the attachment of juvenile corals. The placement of the substrate position also affects the attachment process of the larvae, this may be related to the need for light for photosynthesis of zooxanthellae which affects the growth of juvenile corals. The research was conducted in South Malang Sea, Sumbermanjing Wetan District, Malang, East Java. There are 6 points for the installation of settlement plates, namely Jetty from Sendang Biru, Waru-waru, Teluk Semut, Tiga Warna, Tanjung Sirap Long Bridge (JPTS), and Kondang Merak. The study was conducted from July 2020 to February 2021. Data analysis was carried out in a descriptive way, using graphs and tabulations. These data are data on the diversity, density, and abundance of recruit corals attached to the settlement plate in horizontal and vertical positions. In addition, supporting data is presented including the percentage of live coral cover and sedimentation rate. Based on the identification of recruited corals attached to the settlement plate in horizontal and vertical positions, there were 5 families, namely acroporidae, agariciidae, pocilloporidae, poritidae, and fungidae. The highest abundance of recruit coral species was found in the short immersion and long immersion settlement plates, both horizontally and vertically, in the family Pocilloporidae. The average density of recruit corals on the settlement plate short immersion horizontal and vertical positions had values of 0.051 colonies/m2 and 0.008 colonies/m2, respectively. The average density of recruit corals on the settlement plate long immersion has a value of 0.137 colonies/m2 for the horizontal position and 0.002 colony/m2 for the vertical position.
