Abstract
Ekokritik adalah studi tentang hubungan antara sastra dan lingkungan. Pencemaran air terjadi ketika zat-zat beracun memasuki air seperti danau, sungai, lautan dan sebagainya, terlarut di dalamnya, mengendap di dalam air. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apa saja penyebab dan akibat pencemaran air dalam film The Simpsons Movie. Film diambil sebagai objek penelitian karena film sebagai produk sastra yang menampilkan peristiwa kehidupan nyata, di mana pencemaran air menjadi isu yang mendesak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan model deskriptif naratif. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dari adegan-adegan dari The Simpson Movie karya David Silverman. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penyebab pencemaran air dalam film ini adalah dari ketidakpedulian masyarakat dengan membuang berbagai macam limbah ke dalam air. Adapun dampak pencemaran air pada kehidupan penduduk kota Springfield melalui keputusan yang dibuat oleh pemerintah untuk mengurung kota Springfield dan menghancurkannya.
English Abstract
Ecocriticism is the study of the relationship between literature and the physical environment. Water pollution happens when toxic substances enter water bodies such as lakes, rivers, oceans and so on, getting dissolved in them, lying suspended in the water or depositing on the bed. The main goal of this research is to find what are the causes and effect of water pollution in The Simpson Movie. Movie was taken as the object of the research because movie as a literary product showcasing reallife events, in which water pollution is a pressing issue. This research is uses qualitative method with descriptive narrative model. The data in this research gathered from scenes from David Silverman’s The Simpson Movie. The finding of this research suggesting that the causes of water pollution in this movie are from the ignorance of the people by disposing various kinds of wastes into the water. As for the effect of water pollution, it is affecting the people of Springfield through the decision made by the government to trap with a dome and destroy the city of Springfield.
