Pengaruh Penambahan Bioaditif Eugenol pada Bahan Bakar N-heptana terhadap Gas buang Hasil Pembakaran

Wahyuni Arianto, Arin (2021) Pengaruh Penambahan Bioaditif Eugenol pada Bahan Bakar N-heptana terhadap Gas buang Hasil Pembakaran. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Oxygen is used to complete the combustion reaction in the engine. The complete combustion reaction can save fuel consumption. Generally, oxygen comes from the air that enters the combustion system. Eugenol is an oxygenate hydrocarbon compound that is rich in oxygen. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding eugenol additives with different percentages to N-Heptane fuel on the exhaust gases resulting from combustion and fuel consumption of the fuel. This research includes mixing of additives, namely 100% pure eugenol with n-heptane fuel with a volume ratio of 1%, 3%, 5%, 7%, 10%, 30%, 50% and 80%. The combustion process is carried out on the sample then testing is carried out on the content of exhaust gases resulting from combustion using a Gas Chromatography tool. The results showed that the higher the volume percentage of eugenol in the N-Heptane fuel mixture resulted in a decrease in the concentration of CO gas and an increase in the concentration of CO2 in the exhaust gases resulting from combustion. The higher volume percentage of eugenol in the N-Heptane fuel mixture also causes a decrease in fuel consumption. However, in a fuel mixture with a volume percentage of 50% and 80% eugenol, the fuel cannot be burned in the vehicle's combustion chamber so that the exhaust gas content and fuel consumption cannot be observed.
