Kajian Pustaka: Aplikasi Nanopartikel Kitosan Sebagai Adsorben Logam Berat Kadmium (Cd)

Hendriyani, Widiya (2021) Kajian Pustaka: Aplikasi Nanopartikel Kitosan Sebagai Adsorben Logam Berat Kadmium (Cd). Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Cadmium is a dangerous heavy metal that can spread widely even far from the main source of pollution. Cadmium has the potential to damage the environment because it is toxic, nondegradable and can be adsorbed quickly by organism. Cadmium pollution has occurred in Indonesia and even exceeds the contamination. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a review to determine the method of controlling cadmium and natural materials that can be used as heavy metal adsorbents. This review was conducted using a descriptive methode. The review is carried out by determining the topic of the review, making the title, determining the purpose of the review, searching, collecting and analyze the literature and make a review. The literature used in making this review comes from research literature publication in national or international journals, most of which are published after 2011. These libraries are obtained by downloading from official sites such as Google scholar, Science Direct, Researchgate, Google Books. Based on the results of the review, the method of controlling cadmium heavy metal was carried out using the adsorption method with the chitosan nanoparticles as an adsorbent material. Chitosan nanoparticles were synthesized from chitosan from chitin deacetylation that has potential as a heavy metal adsorbent because it has amine and hydroxyl functional groups that act as active sites for adsorption. Chitosan nanoparticles as an adsorbent has advantages because of its small particle size so that it expands the surface area which can make the contact area of the target larger so the adsorption capacity becomes greater than the micro adsorbent. The mechanism of cadmium adsorption using chitosan nanoparticles occurs through chelation and complexation processes. The adsorbption process is influenced by several factors such as the physical and chemical properties of the adsorbent, the contact time of the adsorbent with the adsorbate, the concentration of the adsorbent and the pH of solution.
