Saffana, Sheila (2021) LITERATURE REVIEW: PENGARUH PEMBERIAN ROSELA (Hibiscus sabdariffa. L) TERHADAP JUMLAH SEL DARAH MERAH. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
Background: Roselle is a plant that has the latin name Hibiscus sabdariffa. L is a tropical plant belonging to the Malvaceae family from Africa. This plant is often found in Indonesia because it’seasy to plant and does not require special care. All parts of the roselle plant are useful because they contain many benefits, like increasing the red blood cell count. The content that is often referred to and associated with an increase in red blood cells is the content of antioxidants and Fe. The content that classified as an antioxidant and is often referred to as vitamin C and anthocyanins. Antioxidants are very good for the body because they have benefits as anti-free radicals. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa. L) on red blood cell count. Method: literature review, which uses data sources from articles or scientific journals to be used as the basis for research by adjusting the inclusion criteria. Scientific articles are taken from several databases, namely ScienceDirect, Proquest, PubMed, Researchgate, Google Scholar, published between 2011- 2020. After searching and adjusting to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, ten journals were found. Data were analyzed using the PICOT method (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, Time). Result: Ten journals have been analyzed, and it was found that roselle able to increase the red blood cell count. Some researchers reveal that the higher dose given, the red blood cell count increase. Conclusion: Giving roselle can increase the red blood cell count and can be used as a treatment therapy or prevention of health problems related to red blood cells such as anemia
