Abstract

Stratifikasi sosial terdapat di setiap masyarakat. Ini dapat termanifestasi sebagai kemampuan untuk membuat aturan, keputusan, dan menetapkan gagasan tentang benar dan salah, dan ini menyebabkan konflik antar kelas. Film berperan sebagai kritikan terhadap kelompok atau masyarakat tertentu, Beberapa film memihak dan menciptakan dialog di bidang apa pun, entah itu masalah politik atau sosial, khususnya dalam hal ini; stratifikasi sosial dan konflik kelas. Salah satunya adalah Knives Out (2019) yang disutradarai oleh Rian Johnson. Penelitian ini menggunakan film Knives Out untuk menganalisis stratifikasi sosial dan dampaknya terhadap kelas atas dan kelas pekerja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra sebagai perspektif untuk menganalisis data. Selanjutnya, teori stratifikasi sosial oleh Jeffries dan Ransford digunakan sebagai teori utama dalam melakukan penelitian. Stratifikasi tersebut ditunjukkan oleh tiga ciri khas: kekuasaan, hak istimewa, dan legitimasi. Sebagian besar data akan diambil dari dialog dan beberapa lainnya dari adegan film untuk melihat konflik antar kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa The Thrombeys memiliki keistimewaan, legitimasi, dan kekuasaan yang berbeda dengan Marta. Hal ini dapat ditunjukkan melalui pakaian, aset, dan hak-hak istimewa yang mereka miliki. Hal ini juga memungkinkan terjadinya diskriminaasi antar kedua kelas tersebut. Konflik-konflik yang direfleksikan dalam film ini juga memiliki ciri dinamika kekuasaan, juga mobilitas sosial yang memungkinkan seseorang dari anggota kelas bawah untuk bergerak ke atas dalam strata kelas. English Abstract

Social stratification is found in every society. It can manifest as the ability to make rules, decisions, and establish the notions of right and wrong, and this caused conflicts between classes. Film ensembles as a social commentary to a certain group or society. Some films take sides and create a conversation in any area, whether it is a political or social issue, specifically in this case; social stratification and class conflicts. One of them is Knives Out (2019) directed by Rian Johnson. This study uses Knives Out movie to analyze the social stratification and the impact between the upper and the working class. This study uses sociological approach to literature as the perspective to analyze the data. Furthermore, social stratification theory from Jeffries and Ransford is used as the main theory in conducting the study. The stratification is shown by three distinctive characteristics: power, privilege, and legitimacy. The data are mainly taken from the dialogues and movie scenes to see the conflicts between classes. The result of the research shows that The Thrombeys have privileges, legitimacy, and power in contrast to Marta. This can be shown through their clothing, assets that they own, and their ascribed privileges. This also allows discrimination to occurs between both of the classes. The conflicts that are reflected in the movie also have characteristics of power dynamics, and social mobility allows a member to the lower class to move upward within the social strata. This conflicts also resulted in violence and exposed fragility
