Abstract

Karya sastra terdiri dari berbagai jenis produk. Salah satunya disajikan dalam bentuk film. Sebuah film itu sendiri mampu memberikan dampak yang sangat besar pada masyarakat melalui adegan, dialog, dan citra tertentu untuk menghadirkan perspektif lain dari topik yang berbeda. Sebagai gambaran, sebuah film berjudul Joker disutradarai oleh Todd Phillips. Film ini memiliki banyak perhatian dalam visualisasi psikoanalisis dan mekanisme pertahanan. Fokus penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan analisis lebih lanjut tentang mekanisme pertahanan Arthur Fleck dan bagaimana ia mengatasi perjuangan sehari-harinya dengan menggunakan psikoanalisis Sigmund Freud. Teori psikoanalisis mengeksplorasi pikiran bawah sadar dalam tiga konsep seperti id, ego, dan superego. Data yang digunakan untuk penelitian diambil dari adegan dan dialog yang relevan sepanjang film yang menunjukkan mekanisme pertahanan Arthur Fleck. Hasil akhir yang diharapkan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa pembaca akan menambahkan perspektif lain tentang bagaimana seseorang bertindak atas sebab dan akibat terhadapnya

English Abstract

Literary works come in various types of products. One of them is presented as movies. A movie itself is able to hold an enormous impact on society through scenes, dialogues, and certain imagery to present another perspective of different topics. To illustrate, a movie entitled Joker directed by Todd Phillips. The movie has many concerns in visualization to psychoanalysis and defense mechanism. The focus of this research is to get further analysis on Arthur Fleck’s defense mechanism and how he copes with his everyday struggle by using Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis. The theory of psychoanalysis explores the unconscious mind in three concepts such as id, ego, and superego. The data used for the research were taken from relevant scenes and dialogues throughout the movie that shows Arthur Fleck defense mechanisms. The end expected outcome from this research is that the reader would add another perspective on how an individual acted upon a cause and the effect to it.
