Abstract

Tugas Akhir, Program Studi Farmasi, Fakultas Kedokteran, Universitas Brawijaya. Pembimbing (1) apt. Tamara Gusti Ebtavanny, S.Farm., M.Farm. (2) apt. Oktavia Eka Puspita, S.Farm., M.Sc Melasma merupakan kelainan hiperpigmentasi kronis berupa makula coklat berentuk tidak teratur, umumnya terjadi pada daerah wajah. Melasma bersifat kronis dan sulit diobati maka kebutuhan penggunaan kosmetik yang mengandung bahan Skin Lightening Agent (SLA) semakin meningkat. Kojic Acid (KA) turunan dari spesies aspergillus dan penicillium yang merupakan salah satu SLA paling populer dalam produk kosmetik yang digunakan untuk mengatasi hiperpigmentasi. Tujuan dari Systematic Literature Review (SLR) ini untuk mengetahui efektivitas sediaan krim yang mengandung KA terhadap perbaikan melasma yang dilihat dari penurunan skor MASI (Melasma Area and Severity Index). Pencarian literatur yang komprehensif dilakukan menggunakan aplikasi Publish or Perish (PoP) pada database Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, dan Crossref dengan alur penyeleksian artikel menggunakan protokol Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA). Setelah artikel diidentifikasi hasil menunjukkan bahwa partisipan yang diberi intervensi krim KA tunggal maupun kombinasi dapat mengurangi keparahan melasma dilihat dari penurunan skor MASI dengan efek samping yang minimal. Kesimpulan dalam SLR ini yaitu sediaan krim yang mengandung KA efektif dalam menurunkan skor MASI tergantung konsentrasi KA dan kombinasi yang digunakan dengan tingkat penurunan ringan hingga tinggi. Dari ke enam artikel, 2 artikel menunjukkan penurunan ringan, 2 artikel menunjukkan penurunan sedang, dan 2 artikel menujukkan penurunan tinggi. Kata kunci: Melasma, Krim, Kojic Acid, Skor MASI "

English Abstract

Melasma is a chronic hyperpigmentation disorder characterized by irregularly shaped brown macules that typically occur on the face. Due to the chronic nature and difficulty of treating this disorder, the needs for cosmetics containing Skin Lightening Agent (SLA) ingredients is growing. Kojic Acid (KA) is a derivative of aspergillus and penicillium species which is one of the most popular SLA in cosmetic products used to treat hyperpigmentation. The purpose of this Systematic Literature Review is to determine the effectiveness of cream preparations containing kojic acid in improving melasma as measured by a decrease in Melasma Area and Severity Index (MASI) scores. The Publish or Perish (PoP) application was used to conduct a comprehensive literature search across several databases, including Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and Crossref, with the article selection process following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) protocol. After the article was identified, the results showed that participants who were given the KA cream intervention alone or in combination could reduce the severity of melasma seen from a decrease in MASI scores with minimal side effects. The conclusion in this SLR is that cream preparations containing KA are effective in reducing MASI scores depending on the concentration of KA and the combination used with mild to high levels of reduction. The six articles, 2 articles showed a mild decline, 2 articles showed a moderate decline, and 2 articles showed a high decline. Keywords: Melasma, Cream, Kojic Acid, MASI Score
