Abstract

The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling with stratification for each trimester determines 42 people and a total of 126 respondents. Respondents were given an online questionnaire with 21 question items to measure the level of psychological distress and the degree of emesis gravidarum. The results of the study stated that there was a sufficient and unidirectional relationship (r = 0.408; p value = 0.000) between psychological distress and emesis gravidarum experienced by pregnant women in their I-III trimester in Probolinggo City. To improve the physical and psychological health status of pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic, early psychological assessment is needed, especially in first-level health care facilities in order to provide counseling as well as therapeutic communication so that this condition can be solved as soon as possible.
