Abstract
Kata kunci: Akustik, Gereja, kenyamanan audial ABSTRACT The Church has a meaning as a place for Christians to worship and carry out other spiritual activities. The worship room in church worship activities is a place to communicate verbally, musically, and emotionally between pastors, liturgical leaders/MC, music players, orshipers, congregations and other. If the acoustics in the worship room are good, the verbal and musical sounds can be heard clearly. The Protestant Church in the Western part of Indonesia (GPIB) Immanuel Congregation of Malang is one of the Malang Cultural Heritage buildings and is located in an area with high noise intensity because it is located on the edge of the highway intersection of Alun-Alun Kota Malang. The method used to review the problem is by measuring & researching acoustic aspect objectively by using tools and by distributing online questionnaires regarding the congregation’s audial comfort level. Preliminary observations on the existing building indicate that there is a problem with background noise and the reverberation time (RT) in the main worship room still exceeds the standard, the loudspeaker position on the edge of the seats (right-left) and also in the additional room next to the church where there are no speakers so that the sound can be heard. For this reason, it is necessary to evaluate the audial comfort of GPIB Immanuel, as well as provide suggestions for improving the acoustic quality in the main worship room of the Church. English Abstract
Grace Friscilia, Jurusan Arsitektur, Fakultas Teknk, Universitas Brawijaya, Juli 2021, Kajian Tata Akustik Ruang Ibadah Gereja Protestan di Indonesia bagian Barat (GPIB) Jemaat Immanuel Malang, Dosen Pembimbing: Andika Citraningrum, ST., MT., MSc. Acoustics is a science of sound or sound and the whole thing caused by sound to the listener. For this reason, acoustics can also be referred to as sound processing that can produce a sound quality that can be enjoyed by a listener in a room. Therefore, with a good architectural design, the sound desired by a listener can be enjoyed and the sound that is not desired by a listener can be avoided. The church in a physical sense is a place where Christians carry out worship and other spiritual activities. In worship activities in the church, the worship room is a place for communication (verbal, musical and emotional) between the Pastor, liturgical leader/MC, musicians, worshipers, congregation and others. For example, the Pastor communicates his sermon to the congregation, the liturgical leader/MC communicates with musicians and singers to invite the congregation to sing and others. In this case, communication is strongly influenced by the acoustics in the worship space. In accordance with the principle of sound attenuation, a room can be said to have good acoustic properties if it can deliver good sound. For this reason, if the acoustics in the worship room are good, then verbal and musical voices can be heard clearly and pleasantly to hear. The main worship room at the Protestant Church in the Immanuel Congregation (GPIB) Malang is the object of research, because it is one of the Dutch heritage buildings which is now one of the objects of Cultural Conservation in Malang City, and also has a building located in an area with high noise intensity. because the building is on the edge of the Malang City Square highway intersection. The method in this study was carried out to review the problem, namely by measuring and researching acoustic aspects objectively using a sound level meter and by distributing questionnaires regarding the congregation's audial comfort level. Initial observations on the existing building indicate that there is a problem with background noise and reverberation time in the main worship room because it still exceeds existing standards, then for the loudspeaker position on the left, right side of the seat and also in the additional room beside the Church which is not available speakers so that the resulting sound becomes less audible. For this reason, it is necessary to evaluate the audial comfort at GPIB Immanuel Malang, as well as provide recommendations and suggestions for improving the acoustic quality in the main worship room of the Church.
