Abstract

LITERATURE REVIEW: RELATIONSHIP OF MOTHER'S KNOWLEDGE LEVEL AND SOCIAL CULTURE WITH EARLY SUPPLEMENTARY FOODS IN BABIES Abstract Background: The incidence of excessive defecation or commonly called diarrhea in infants can be caused by the consumption of food of inappropriate quality and quantity such as cleanliness, texture and frequency. This can occur because complementary foods for breast milk in infants who have been given at the age of < 6 months. MP-ASI that is given too soon or when the baby is not yet 6 months old, can cause diarrhea in infants because the lactose enzyme in the baby's intestines is not fully dense so it is difficult to break down solid foods that enter the digestive system. According to Maharani's research (2016), it was found that infants aged < 6 months and had been given early complementary feeding have a 7.8 times chance of contracting diarrhea. The incidence of early complementary feeding in Indonesia continues to increase every year, this hampers exclusive breastfeeding. Methods: This study uses a type of Literature Review. The database is accessed through DOAJ, PubMed, Research Gate, and Garuda Portal. Results: This study found that there was a relationship between the level of mother's knowledge and socio-culture with early complementary feeding . This can be seen based on the analysis of 10 journals that get the results that there is a relationship between the mother's level of knowledge and the provision of complementary feeding. Seven of the 8 journals found that there was a relationship between mother's level of knowledge and early complementary feeding. The more negative the socio-cultural, the more mothers who give early MP-ASI to their babies, there are 4 journals that discuss and all get significant results. Keywords: mother's level of knowledge, socio-cultural, early complementary. "
