Abstract
THE USE OF PINEAPPLE FRUIT IN BATTING AGENT PROCESS ON SHEEP SKINS USING SHORFLOAT TANNING MEASURED BY PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
English Abstract
Batting is the process of removing globular and non-collagen proteins. Bromelin can be found in all parts of the pineapple plant with different amounts and properties. Bromelin can be used as a batting agent in the tanning process. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the bromelain enzyme concentration used during the protein removal process on the quality of the skin. The research was conducted in November 2020 at the Yogyakarta Center for Leather, Rubber and Plastics. The material of this research used 30 sheets of sheepskin obtained from RPH Yogyakarta City and pineapple fruit. The method used in this research is a completely randomized design (CRD) experimental with 2 stages of research, the first stage uses different concentrations of pineapples (P1 0,5%, P2 1%, P3 1,5% and P4 2%) with feliderm (P0) and the second stage uses different drum playback times P0 (60 mins), P1 (30 mins), P2 (45 mins), P3 (60 mins) and P4 (75 mins). The variables observed in the concentration of pineapple fruit were dissolved protein content (in batting fluid), batting skin protein content, leather protein content and fleshing skin fat content. The variables observed in the administration of different time-spinning treatments were the protein content of the leather, the chrome content of the leather, the fat content of the leather, the skin gilt, the thickness of the skin, the wrinkle temperature, the tensile strength of the skin and the tear strength. Statistical analysis using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and in accordance with the statistical model. Keyword: Bromelin, Batting, Sheep Skin.
