Abstract

Masjid Al – Wustho Mangkunegaran mulai dipugar oleh KGPAA Mangkunegaran VII pada tahun 1878-1918 yang dirancang oleh Ir. Herman Thomas Karsten arsitektur asal Belanda, tidak heran meskipun dibangun dalam bentuk arsitektur khas Jawa tetapi juga terdapat banyak pengaruh gaya Kolonial. Adapun Masjid Al – Wustho merupakan masjid yang dijadikan cagar budaya di Kota Surakarta dan teregistrasi dalam sistem registrasi nasional cagar budaya oleh Kementrian Pendidikan Budaya. Oleh karena itu, dengan kemunculan identitas serta karakteristik yang beragam, diperlukan adanya peninjauan dalam identitas masjid pada elemen visual. Kajian ini merupakan media untuk membantu dalam memahami identitas visual Masjid Al – Wustho Mangkunegaran berdasarkan karakter visual yang menjadikan ciri khas sebagai masjid kraton di kota Surakarta. Metode penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil akhir analisis ini menghasilkan identitas visual bangunan yang dipengaruhi oleh gaya bangunan yang digunakan. Secara garis besar identitas bangunan masjid Al – Wustho Mangkunegaran dibangun dengan dominasi langgam arsitektur tradisional Jawa pada aspek visual dan juga langgam arsitektur Kolonial. Namun, kedua langgam ini berakulturasi menjadi satu diikuti dengan budaya lokal Surakarta yang menghasilkan bangunan bersejarah yang vital di kota Surakarta.

English Abstract

Al – Wustho Mangkunegaran mosque began to be restored by KGPAA Mangkunegaran VII in 1878-1918 designed by Ir. Herman Thomas Karsten dutch architecture, no wonder although built in the form of Javanese architecture but also there are many influences of Colonial style. Al – Wustho Mosque is a mosque that is used as a cultural heritage in Surakarta city and registered in the national registration system of cultural heritage by the Ministry of Cultural Education. Therefore, with the emergence of diverse identities and characteristics, a review of the mosque's identity is required on visual elements. This study is a medium to help in understanding the visual identity of Al – Wustho Mangkunegaran mosque based on visual character that makes the characteristic as a palace mosque in the city of Surakarta. Descriptive research methods with qualitative approach. The final result of this analysis results in the visual identity of the building being influenced by the style of the building used. In general, the identity of Al – Wustho Mangkunegaran mosque building was built with the dominance of traditional Javanese architecture in the visual aspect and also colonial architecture. However, these two style are cultured into one followed by the local culture of Surakarta which produces vital historical buildings in the city of Surakarta. Keywords: identity, mosque, visual
