Abstract
Internet of Things (IoT) adalah sebuah sistem yang kompleks, rumit, dan tidak mudah dalam pembuatannya, terlebih pada bagian komunikasi sebagai bagian utama pada IoT. Smartphone adalah sebuah benda yang masif dan familiar di masyarakat dan dapat dimanfaatkan untuk mempermudah pebuatan sistem IoT. Penelitian ini membuat sebuah framework komunikasi untuk IoT bernama Mobile Internet of Things (MIOT) dengan memanfaatkan Smartphone sebagai gateway bagi piranti IoT. Framework MIOT terdiri dari 3 komponen yaitu: (1) MIOT Controller sebagai user-interface berbasis web bagi user, (2) MIOT Server sebagai perantara komunikasi antara user dan piranti ioT, dan (3) MIOT Apps sebagai gateway antara piranti IoT ke Internet. Framework MIOT yang telah dibuat diujicobakan dalam 2 contoh kasus yaitu: (1) Sistem Monitoring sebagai contoh pengiriman data dari sensor, dan (2) Sistem Pengendalian sebagai contoh pengiriman perintah ke actuator. Adanya Smartphone (MIOT Apps) sebagai gateway bagi piranti IoT memberikan tambahan latency pada keseluruhan proses komunikasi. Berdasarkan pengujian pada kondisi jeda antar paket sebesar 2 detik, didapatkan bahwa Smartphone berkontribusi pada tambahan latency sebesar 18,326 milidetik. Dalam implementasinya ditemukan 2 hal lain yang dapat mempengaruhi performa komunikasi pada sistem IoT yaitu latency hardware pada piranti IoT dan fitur Discontinue Reception (D/RX) pada Smartphone.
English Abstract
Internet of Things (IoT) is a complex system that difficult to develop. Primarily in the main component of IoT: communication. Smartphone is an ubiquituous device which familiar for human and can be leveraged to ease the development of IoT system. This research present a communication framework for IoT named Mobile Internet of Things (MIOT) which use Smartphone as gateway for IoT device. MIOT Framework are consisted of 3 parts which are : (1) MIOT Controller as a web based user interface for user, (2) MIOT Server which control the communication between user and IoT device, and (3) MIOT Apps as gateway for IoT device to connect to the Internet. MIOT Framework is tested on 2 usage scenario (1) Monitoring system as example for data transmision from sensor, and (2) Control Sysem as axample for giving instruction to actuator. The use of Smartphone as communication gateway give additional latency to the whole communication process. Based on the experiment with 2 seconds interval between packet, Smartphone contribute to 18.326 miliseconds additional latency. During the implementation, this research found 2 factor which could impact overall communication performance: (1) Hardware latency on IoT device and (2) Discontinue reception (D/RX) features on Smarthone.
