Abstract

"Berangkat dari fenomena peralihan mobil PCR yang mengakibatkan tingginya sorotan publik terhadap nama Khofifah dan Risma, penelitian ini ditujukan untuk melihat secara spesifik bagaimana Jawapos.com dalam memperlakukan topik hangat untuk diangkat sebagai berita. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan paradigma konstruktivisme dan pendekatan gender. Dengan dilakukannya analisis framing dari Robert Entman dan juga wawancara mendalam dengan redaksi Jawapos.com, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa isu sensitivitas gender yang rendah dalam diri perusahaan media tidak ditemukan di Jawapos.com. Keyakinan Widaningsih (1999) akan ‘jumlah pekerja laki-laki di perusahaan media yang mempengaruhi bagaimana patriarkhi-nya pemberitaan yang dipublikasikan’ tidak terbukti. Jawapos.com berpegang teguh terhadap salah fungsi media yakni problem solving. Kemudian, dalam proses produksi, ditemukan tidak adanya unsur alasan gender dalam mempengaruhi keputusan baik secara teknis maupun substansi dalam publikasi berita. Dengan begitu, penelitian ini telah memperluas kajian politik kontemporer dengan perpaduan kajian feminist standpoint dan konstruksi realitas media. English Abstract

Aprillia Eka Ayu Savitri, 2021, Political Science Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Brawijaya University Malang, Analysis of Media Reality Construction (Case Study of News by Jawapos.com Regarding the Conflict of the Governor of East Java and the Mayor of Surabaya in Handling Covid-19) From the phenomenon of the PCR car switching which resulted in high public attention to the names of Khofifah and Risma, this research is aimed at seeing specifically how Jawapos.com treats hot topics to be raised as news. This study uses a qualitative method with a constructivism paradigm and a gender approach. By conducting a framing analysis by Robert Entman and also in-depth interviews with the editors of Jawapos.com, this study finds that the issue of low gender sensitivity in media companies is not found in Jawapos.com. Widaningsih's (1999) belief in 'the number of male workers in media companies influences how patriarchal the news is published' is not proven. Jawapos.com clings to one of the media's functions, namely problem solving. Then, in the production process, it was found that there was no element of gender reasoning in influencing decisions both technically and substantively in news publications. Thus, this research has expanded the study of contemporary politics by combining feminist standpoint studies and the construction of media reality.
