Jamhar, Achirul (2021) Pengaruh Variasi Lama Waktu Penembakan Pada Proses Shot Peening Terhadap Kekerasan dan Laju Korosi Sambungan Las SMAW Pipa ASTM A106 Gr. B. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
This research was carried out with the aim of finding the influence of shot peening time in the shot peening process and the most effective shot peening time for the hardness tested with Eseway EW-410AAT and corrosion rate tested with PalmsSens on SMAW welded joints of ASTM A106 Gr. B pipes with the electrolyte used is crude oil. The shot peening process is carried out in the HAZ (Heat Affected Zone) area because it is the welding area that is most susceptible to corrosion. The justification for this research was done by comparing the results of macroscopic photos using a digital microscope and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) photos using a Hitachi TM3000 Scanning electron microscope. The results showed that the longer the shot peening time in the shot peening process could increase the hardness of the HAZ region on the specimen with produced compressive residual stress and could reduce the corrosion rate of the specimen because there is an increase in grain density from the surface of the specimen exposed to the shot peening process so that it becomes a protective layer for the layer inside which is more resistant to corrosion. However, in testing the corrosion rate, it was found that the most effective shot peening time was 12 minutes. Macroscopic and SEM photos in this study can also be used as supporting data.
